The 2nd Week of Easter
Trusting in God’s Providence
Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the fish as they wanted.
John 6:11

When I moved into my first apartment as a young adult, I was completely broke. I lived on a diet of ramen noodles and saltines. It was what I could afford, and that, barely. There were so many times in my young life when I struggled, financially but also emotionally. Many months I was not sure I would have enough. I doubted over and over that I would be able to get by. But I always did. It is a marvel to me that, at every turn of life where it seemed there would be no provision, provision always came.

Many followers of Christ can look back on their lives and see those moments when the question of getting by or getting through was answered by the provision of Love, over and over. God’s provision is ours still, every day and always. We need only trust.

Lord, teach me to trust in your provision. Always.

Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those experiencing natural disasters, Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, the Sudan, and all those suffering around the world - also for their strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

My favorite verse in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways obey Him. Then He will make your paths smooth and straight!" *** Thinking back 48 years coming to America from Hong Kong. The only thing I had was the acceptsnce letter from North Texas State University in November 1975. I had no money to buy plane ticket nor did I have money for tuition let alone a place to stay !?!?!? *** God provided for me even before I was His ✝️ My step grandmother from Singapore sent my Mom money for the plane ticket and my boyfriend's parents gave him money for my first semester tuition, and I slept on the couch of a friend from Hong Kong of my boyfriend during my first semester! *** I majored in Biochemistry because I didn't have to buy any text book as I followed my boyfriend's footstep using his text books. I got a job with the chemistry stockroom working 20 hours per week within 2 months so I paid in-state tuition intead of international tuition the following semester! ******* I got various jobs (Pizza Inn, Trail Dust Steak House, Chinese restaurants) to pay for an apartment shared with 3 other people and grocery. And finally after two years I worked for a Physical Chemistry professor on research 20 hours a week instead of the Chemistry stockroom. I saved enough money to buy a brand new Honda Civic! Graduated with a BS in Biochemistry 3.5 GPA (I failed Political Science 2 times) and MS in Physical Chemistry 3.67 GPA. *** And yet all these years I didn't know Jesus personally, I knew about Jesus during my growing up years in Hong Kong attending a Catholic school and nothing earth shaking or heart changing just some God Who is distant and rule enforcing! *** It brings tears to my eyes now thinking of God's long-suffering (one of His attributes) waiting for me to come to Jesus!!! Romans 2:4-5, "Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance. But you are stubborn. In your heart you are not sorry for your sins. You are storing up anger against yourself. The day of God’s anger is coming. Then His way of judging fairly will be shown!" *** I am grateful for His patience with me in 2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slow to keep His promise. He is not slow in the way some people understand it. Instead, He is patient with you (me). He doesn’t want anyone (me) to be destroyed. Instead, He wants all people (me) to turn away from their (my) sins!" ******* I pray as Paul did in 1 Timothy 1:15-17, "Here is a saying that you can trust. It should be accepted completely. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And I am the worst sinner of all. But for that very reason, God showed me mercy. And I am the worst of sinners. He showed me mercy so that Christ Jesus could show that He is very patient (and long-suffering). I was an example for those who would come to believe in Him. Then they would receive eternal life. The eternal King will never die. He can’t be seen. He is the only God. Give Him honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen!" ❤️ *** Matthew 16:26, "What good is it if someone gains the whole world but loses their soul? Or what can anyone trade for their soul?" Here I am, the BS and MS degrees mean nothing...my successful career in the medical industry means nothing...my ability to buy anything I want means nothing...Only Jesus ❤️✝️❤️

So true Sarah, trust in the Lord and He will always provide. I have learned, looking back over the years the many times He has provided for me. I also learned the more that I give the more I receive. Continued uplifting prayers for all in need.

Thank you Sarah for those words. Looking back on life, yes God has provided when needed and I will trust in that for the future also. Great reflection. Blessings to all the LFF, especially to those needing extra support these days. May we all go out into the world and spread the love of God throughout.

Welcome, Sarah, to this Living Faith family forum. Quite an interesting bio. Your devotion was on target with me. I also remember times when I wondered when my next meal would be. But there was always someone in my life whom God directed to help me through. I now have become that person to others.
