The 3rd Week of Easter
One True Path
…Master, to whom shall we go?
John 6:68

How many times have we gone all in for something, thinking it was the key to our happiness or the solution to our problems? Perhaps it was the latest natural foods diet, a self-help book by a best-selling author or a candidate running for office whose promises resonated with our values. We put time, effort and money into the endeavor and couldn’t stop talking about it and trying to convince others that they should accompany us down this yellow brick road.

In time, as is the way of the world, the shiny promises began to tarnish, we lose enthusiasm and the so-called experts reveal themselves as all too human and fallible. After a time, we began to look around and to seek the next latest, greatest thing.

After chewing on Jesus’ hard saying for a bit with the other disciples, Simon Peter comes at last to the realization that there is only one place to go, one path to follow, one Master of all.

So many spend their lives seeking satisfaction in money, fame and success, only to realize that none of it is truly fulfilling. A simple answer comes when we stop, pray and listen to hear the call of the Father to open our hearts to Jesus. Only He can fill the emptiness in our souls. As Peter wisely said only He has the words and is the way to eternal life. Thank you Jesus.

"A Christian's treasure is not on earth. It is in heaven. Well then! Our thoughts must go where our treasure is. Man has a fine function to pray & to love. You pray, you love: that is man's happiness on earth!" St. John Vianney

Matthew 6:19-21, "Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be!"

Will I say and believe the same as Peter did in John 6:68-69, "Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, who can we go to? You have the Words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that You are the Holy One of God.”?!?!?! *** Do I go to a man-made cross I own instead of going to You, Lord Jesus, first and personally? *** Do I call someone on the phone instead of going to the throne, Lord Jesus, first and personally? *** Do I go to a dead person instead of going to You, Lord Jesus, Who is alive first and personally? ******* Do I treat You, Lord Jesus, as if You have the Words of eternal life? Do I believe You, Lord Jesus, as if You are the Holy One of God? Is there anyone or anything I go to first and that I place in between You and I? *** Listen to the miracles of healing Aeneas and raising Tibatha from the dead by Jesus through Peter (NOT miracles performed by Peter) in Acts 9:34, 40, "“Aeneas,” Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ heals you. Get up! Roll up your mat!” So Aeneas got up right away.".......Peter sent them all out of the room. Then he got down on his knees and prayed. He turned toward the dead woman. He said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes. When she saw Peter, she sat up." *** The results of these two miracles in Acts 9:35, 42, "Everyone who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him. They turned to the Lord.......This became known all over Joppa. Many people believed in the Lord." *** These people who saw the miracles did not make Peter 'god' doing the miracles! Instead they turned and believed the Lord Jesus!!! ******* Acts 4:12, "There is Salvation in no one else (Only Jesus :-)! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” *** Who ya gonna call? Not "Ghostbuster!" *** Only in Jesus' powerful Name in John 16:23-24, "When that day comes, you will no longer ask Me for anything. What I’m about to tell you is true. My Father will give you anything you ask for in My Name. Until now you have not asked for anything in My Name. Ask, and you will receive what you ask for. Then your joy will be complete!" *** In Jesus' Name by Katy Nichole https://youtu.be/R84PqRdZ7_Y?si=MN-DDbCphzbDbz1j

it is strange the amount of effort we put into getting something material we think we need or are owed and yet the little time we spend pursuing the divine

*** Matthew 6:24, "No one can serve two masters at the same time. You will hate one of them and love the other. Or you will be faithful to one and dislike the other. You can’t serve God and money at the same time!" *** Ecclesiastes 5:10-11, "Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!" *** 1 Timothy 6:10, "For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil (money is not the root of evil - the love of money is :-). And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows." ******* Matthew 16:26, "And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?"
