Rev. Peter Wehrle, a native of Thomaston, CT, holds a B.A. in German and an MBA in Finance and Information Systems from the University of Rochester. Ordained for the Archdiocese of Newark in 1999, he currently serves as Pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Verona, NJ.

Darrin Nelson
Originally from New Hampshire and now residing in New Jersey, Darrin Nelson holds a master’s degree in systematic theology and has been serving in pastoral ministry since 1998. He is also the creator and host of the Catholics Living Discipleship podcast, where he shares insights and practical guidance for living out the Catholic faith in everyday life.

Join Fr. Peter and Darrin Nelson for a 9-day pilgrimage through Ireland’s breathtaking landscapes and rich heritage, shaped by its Celtic saints and a history deeply rooted in faith and spirituality. Guided by Saints Brigid, Columban, Columba of Iona, Kieran, and Patrick, we will explore sacred sites, reflect on Scripture, and celebrate daily Eucharist. Along the way, we’ll encounter local Catholic communities and share in their vibrant faith traditions.

  • Day 1 Monday, April 27, 2026
    Today, we board our flights bound for Dublin and anticipate our arrival the following morning.
  • Day 2 Tuesday, April 28, 2026
    After gathering at Dublin Airport (DUB), our group will be welcomed by our Tour Escort before heading to the city center. Our day begins with a boat trip on the River Liffey, offering a unique view of Dublin’s history. We will then celebrate the opening pilgrimage Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. A panoramic tour will follow, highlighting the city’s charm and connection to the river. We will visit Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, seat of the Anglican Church in Ireland, and finish the afternoon with a walk to the historic Trinity College.

    In the morning, we will drive to Downpatrick, known for Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and his tomb in the Down Cathedral cemetery, along with the tombs of Saint Brigid and Saint Colmcille In the afternoon, we will travel to Armagh to visit St Patrick’s Anglican Cathedral, built on the site of Patrick’s first stone church, and then cross to Sandy Hill to see St Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, where we will celebrate Mass. Armagh is the only city with two cathedrals dedicated to the same saint.
  • day 4 Thursday, April 30, 2026
    In the morning, we will depart for Belfast and tour the Falls Road, including the Bobby Sands Mural and Solidarity Wall. We will visit the Titanic Belfast exhibition and shipyard, where the Titanic story comes to life. In the afternoon, we will drive along the Giant’s Causeway to Derry, touring the city starting at the historic Guildhall and passing the famous city walls. We will celebrate Mass at St. Eugene’s Cathedral in Derry.
  • day 5 Friday, May 1, 2026
    In the morning, we will drive to Knock through County Sligo. In the afternoon, we will explore the Marian shrine of Knock, known as the ‘Irish Lourdes’ and welcoming over 1.5 million pilgrims annually. We will have a personal pilgrimage time arranged with our spiritual guide, including options for the Way of the Cross, confession in the Chapel of Reconciliation, Eucharistic adoration, and silent prayer around the shrine. We will celebrate Mass at the Chapel of the New Apparition before continuing to Westport.
  • day 6 Saturday, May 2, 2026
    In the morning, we will visit Ballintubber Abbey in County Mayo to celebrate Mass and start the pilgrim path to Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s sacred mountain known for Saint Patrick’s 40-day fast. We will say prayers by Saint Patrick’s statue, then drive through Connemara to Galway, stopping in Leenane and cruising on Killary Harbour. After a short visit to Kylemore Abbey, we continue to Galway through the scenic countryside.
  • day 7 Sunday, May 3, 2026
    In the morning, we will celebrate Mass at Galway Cathedral. Then, we will drive to the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s most stunning natural sites, where we’ll take a short walk and visit the Visitor Center’s museum about the cliffs’ ecosystem. In the afternoon, we will continue to Limerick and visit Bunratty Castle and Folk Park.
  • day 8 Monday, May 4, 2026
    In the morning, we will visit the monastery at Clonmacnoise, one of Ireland’s most important and sacred archaeological sites, a pilgrimage destination since the 7th century. We will celebrate Mass at the open-air oratory built for St. John Paul II’s 1979 visit. In the afternoon, we will continue to Kildare, the town of Saint Brigid, and visit St Brigid's Cathedra.
  • day 9 Tuesday May 5, 2026
    We will celebrate Mass at the Catholic parish church of Saint Brigid before traveling back to Dublin. Upon arrival, there will be free time before transferring to Dublin Airport for departure.
