I am a priest of the Diocese of Syracuse, NY. Currently, I am a research associate professor at the Catholic University of America. I graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1973 and spent six years in the Air Force as an intelligence officer. A licensed psychologist, I have a Ph.D. in psychology from Boston College and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Catholic University. After ordination, I served in two parishes before becoming Director of Education of the House of Affirmation and then the President/CEO of Saint Luke Institute, a residential treatment program for priests and religious in Silver Spring, Maryland.

I am the author of many articles and books including I Am Awake: Discovering Prayer, Fire on the Earth: Daily Living in the Kingdom of God, and When the Lion Roars: A Primer for the Unsuspecting Mystic, and The Priestly Blessing: Rediscovering the Gift.
I received a Proclaim Award in 1994 from the U.S. Bishops’ Conference, a Lifetime Service Award from Theological College, and an honorary doctorate from St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore MD.
