Sts. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael
Road Rage
When I called, you answered me;
you built up strength within me.
Psalm 138:3

I witnessed some serious road rage the other day. It was so aggressive that I hung back from traffic, not wanting to be caught in the middle.

A driver honked at the hesitating car in front of him. That driver slammed on his brakes, inched forward, slammed them again, gunned forward into the busy intersection, circled, then raced back in the direction he’d come, engine roaring. What in the world was that for? I wondered. What did that accomplish?

There is such a thing as righteous anger, but despite our self-justification, most of our anger is probably actually not that righteous. Like the furious driver, we might feel like we’ve made our point, but really, in retrospect, what did we accomplish? What might have been different if, instead of relying on the strength of our own transitory emotions, we’d called on the Lord and relied on his strength instead?

God, may I draw on your strength in stressful times.

How exactly do I call on the Lord and rely on His strength? *** Jesus is the strongest in me when I am weak in 2 Corinthians 12:10, “Because of how I suffered for Christ, I’m glad that I am weak. I am glad in hard times. I am glad when people say mean things about me. I am glad when things are difficult. And I am glad when people make me suffer. When I am weak, I am strong.” *** Jesus gives power and strength when I am weak and powerless in Isaiah 40:28-29, “Have you never heard? Have...

Sharing with you my leading of BSF student lesson this week on Romans 1:18:32 ******* And we will learn the Main Truth for this week’s lesson is, “People who refuse to turn away from their sin will face God’s wrath!” *** What is God’s wrath?
