In the Rite of Baptism, after asking the name of the child and the intention of the parents to have their child baptized, the celebrant asks the parents a question that always makes me chuckle, “Do you clearly understand what you are undertaking?” At that moment, we understand what we’re able to understand. Yet, for much that is to come, it’s God’s mercy that we don’t really understand all we’re undertaking!
I have heard today’s epistle proclaimed at countless weddings. “Love is patient…It is not jealous, love is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude…It is not quick-tempered…Love never fails.” Like the promise parents make at their child’s Baptism, it’s a beautiful and powerful description of the love that the couple promises to each another. But it’s not a promise any of us can live out without God’s grace.

Amen. :)

In most times, when asked a question like, "Do you understand . . " , we don't really understand. God did not put us on earth to have all the answers. When faced with things we don't understand, we need to place our trust in Him and know He will give us the right answers when we need them.

AMEN!

Amen
