Have you taken Mary into your home? “Home” could be understood in several ways. Literally, we can welcome Mary into our houses with an image or statue, reminding us of her maternal presence. On a spiritual level, home could simply mean our lives. Just as we pray at Mass that we are not worthy for Jesus to enter under our roof, that is the roof of our bodies and lives, we become a “home” not only for Jesus in holy Communion but, by his exhortation from the Cross, for Mary too.
The Servant of God Chiara Lubich once wrote: “The task of the Church and every Christian is to take Mary home, live with Mary and go to Christ with and through Mary. She is our spiritual mother…”
When Mary makes her home with us, she rejoices with us and stands by us in our sorrow.
If you took Mary into your home, what difference do you imagine it will make? Why not give her a chance?

Amen. :)

In my home I have two crucifixes, two statues of The Holy Family, one of St. Jude, Patron of the Impossible and our local church, and various statues of angels. I also have many family photos. I do not worship any of them. However, the Holy Family ones remind me that God chose frail humans to parent His Devine Son. Because Mary was to bear the Devine in her womb, she was created full of grace without sin. The crucifix prompts me to remember that Jesus, “the visible image of the invisible God” fully God and fully human, willingly gave...

AMEN!

Interestingly, yesterday I was listening to a commentary by an Australian priest and he mentioned the seraph serpent on the pole being a “graven image”. He noted that God warned against graven images and yet directly ordered one for healing. His take seemed to be not that we can’t have “holy reminders” but they can’t be of our own making. My most prized reminder is my very large 18”x 22” Divine Mercy picture but I also have a crucifix in every room and many many statues of different saints, angels and a variety of Mary. I never ever thought they...

I don’t know about you, but I only invite the One and only God into my house (temple) and no one else ✝️ *** 1 Corinthians 6:19, “Don’t you know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit? The Spirit is in you, and you have received the Spirit from God. You do not belong to yourselves.” *** 2 Corinthians 6:16, “How can the temple of the true God and the statues of other gods agree? We are the temple of the living God. God has said, “I will live with them. I will walk among them. I will...

When I think about making a home for Mary and for Jesus it is in the heartbeat of my life. the heartbeat that keeps blood and oxygen flowing through the body. When the last heartbeat and breath are taken, the new life from the Creation Story to the New Creation promised in revelation, I am connected to nature and other human beings. We are connected with our hearts when Mary along with the other saints and especially Jesus enters into the heartbeat of life and breath. With gratitude and being connected in this special Living Faith Family/Community/Ohana.

Amen Amen

Mary...Mother of God. Our Mother....My Mother. Pray for Us

I cringe when I hear or read about images or statues :-( Why? *** Exodus 20:4-5a, “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods.” *** Leviticus 26:1, “You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your...

I hope you don’t think I am against reminders, but I am worried about anyone who may turn these reminders into idols is the warning! I have plenty of crosses, Scriptures framed and unframed posted, and family pictures all around my house. They remind me how thankful and grateful I am of the One true God and that I have direct access to Him now ❤️✝️❤️ *** The Israelites did just that (idolatry) in the desert when the one who talked to God for them, Moses, was gone and no where to be found, because they didn’t have a direct...
