I wonder, why did Jesus choose Peter’s boat for his pulpit that day? By doing so, Jesus is clearly taking the initiative to establish a relationship with Peter. What qualities did he see in Peter that led him eventually to choose this ordinary fisherman as one of his Apostles? Did Jesus see in him the potential for leadership? Or was it Peter’s basic humility? Or was it his persistence in his unpredictable trade as a fisherman? Or did Jesus see some innate goodness in Peter not clearly visible to most people—or perhaps not even known by Peter himself?
Two questions to ask ourselves. First, how good am I at detecting potential in others? Can I, like Jesus, look more deeply into other peoples’ hearts and see goodness there? Second, what did Jesus see in me that caused him to say, “Follow me”?

It could be Jesus saw how Peter was when interacting with the people he was working with a loving way he was with people it makes me think how do I interact with people thank you sister for the lesson learned on how I do with that God bless us all Amen Amen Amen
Sr. Melannie thank you for your words of reflection. They tear at my heart. I have always tried as humanly as Peter to follow God but feel inadequate even invisible to him many days. I fear him forgetting about me or me not hearing his call. I am not one of those people that stands out in a crowd. Blessings to all the LFF, especially those with extra needs. Holy Spirit fill the hearts of all to guide us to a heavenly earth.

Stormi - Your words really touched me. There may have been a time where I felt like you do, but, as I age, I have come to realize that God did not put me on this earth to have all the answers. He put me here to place my trust in Him. I may not, at times, understand why He seems distant, but I have to remember that He is always there for me. He never forgets about me or leaves me on my own. Thank you, Sister Melanie for the words today. I often times think about Peter being the "Rock," the foundation of the one who was charged to begin the foundation of the Universal Church.
