Stranded at the Airport
If it delays, wait for it…
Habakkuk 2:3b

Do you ever have doubts that God hears your prayers? I do, and in those times, I wonder about the size of my faith. Is it even as big as a tiny mustard seed? (See Matthew 17:20.)

Last Thanksgiving, a robust Midwestern snowstorm left my husband and I stranded at the Dallas–Ft. Worth airport for two days and overnight. (Sleeping on the floor doesn’t work well when you are seventy-plus!) Trying fruitlessly to get rescheduled on a new flight to Milwaukee or Chicago, we grew ever more discouraged. All that was on offer was standby. I prayed and prayed, but all the flights were full with no room for extra passengers. It seemed God was busy elsewhere. We were exhausted and rung out! Queuing up for yet another standby flight, I boldly asked God for a miracle. Ground down to the bottom of my endurance, I found my mustard seed. The ticket agent called our name!

Lord, help my unbelief!

Praise and give thanks to the Spirit who allowed you to share your experience. Prayer does work and just have to have patience. Growing in faith takes time to feel the Spirit’s abundant love.

Believing in God listening and answering prayers is one thing, but expecting God to do so in our ways and our timing is another…so be very careful ✝️ *** My oldest daughter walked away from her faith in Jesus because her prayer was not answered the way and the time she prayed for :-( *** Listen to how Paul reacted to God when God didn’t answer his prayer accordingly in 2 Corinthians 12:8-10, “Three different times I begged the Lord to take it (12:7b) away. Each time He said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in...

Mary and Joseph (from Nazareth) could relate to being stranded in Luke 2:6-7, “While Joseph and Mary were there (Bethlehem), the time came for the child to be born. She gave birth to her first baby. It was a boy. She wrapped Him (Jesus) in large strips of cloth. Then she placed Him in a manger. That’s because there was no guest room where they could stay.” *** Did they pray? *** Was their prayer answered? *** Why didn’t their prayer answer according to their needs to have a comfortable place to give birth? ******* The birth of Jesus was...

Hello Jennifer, I think you have reflected what most of us feel like from time to time. It’s a challenging subject, certainly it was for me. ——— Many years ago on this very subject someone recommended I look up Sr. Briege McKenna. She strongly emphasises the spiritual practice of thanking God for the answer straight away when you pray, teaching that true faith believes God hears and acts on our behalf the exact moment we speak. ——— This approach is rooted in scripture—particularly Mark 11:24 ("Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will...

Yes, CBR! Everything starts with faith in Jesus in Romans 5:1-5, “We have been made right with God because of our faith. Now we have peace with Him because of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through faith in Jesus we have received God’s grace. In that grace we stand. We are full of joy because we expect to share in God’s glory. And that’s not all. We are full of joy even when we suffer. We know that our suffering gives us the strength to go on. The strength to go on produces character. Character produces hope. And hope will never...

Jennifer thank you for your reflection. It brings many thoughts to mind about every time I have asked God for some help. I seem to get a small reminder that he is there in some way. Blessings to all the LFF, especially those with extra needs. Holy Spirit fill the hearts of all to guide us to a more heavenly earth.
