We have emerged from the fullest, busiest, most public time of the liturgical year, three months of Lent and Easter and their attendant epilogues, Pentecost, Trinity Sunday, Corpus Christi, Sacred Heart and more. Crowds lining up for ashes, dramatic Gospel readings, especially the Passion, live versions of the Stations of the Cross, processions of palms and thuribles and monstrances, you name it!
So it’s appropriate, perhaps, that today Jesus, and the Church, returns us to a more private practice of our faith. Give alms in secret, anonymously, your left hand hidden from your right hand. Pray in secret, hiding in your (literal) “closet” (see v. 6). Fast in secret, hiding your hunger behind a bright shiny face. And the clincher: “Your Father, who sees in secret, will repay you.” If pray-for-pay sounds a little coarse, or a little selfish on our parts, the reward is really God’s own intimacy, God’s own love, filling our purse, our souls, our hunger to the brim! Hide, and seek the Lord!

God has...

Miguel your words are soothing to my heart and faith. This world is filled with so many people trying to be on top and the best of all. Humility is being lost in society. Blessings to all the LFF, especially those with extra needs these days, Pam and her family, Vicky G. and her family. Holy Spirit fill the hearts of all to guide us all to a more heavenly earth.

"Hide and seek the Lord". Amen!

Thanks for this, just what I needed to start my day

My brothers and sisters, can this kind of faith save them?” *** My faith is a gift of...
