Sts. Marcellinus and Peter
Our Everlasting Father
…from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Psalm 90:2

Years ago, my teenaged daughter witnessed the brutal murder of a friend. She was only a few feet away from the horrific incident. All I wanted to tell her then was that things would be fine. But I knew that wasn’t true.

A short time later, as I was driving home from work, I noticed a dad walking up a driveway, holding his sleeping little girl on his shoulder. She was fast asleep, without a care in the world. She trusted her dad implicitly, knowing that he was lovingly keeping her safe. In an instant, I was brought to tears. I desperately longed for the time when I could hold my baby girl in the same way, when I knew where she was every minute, when I could keep her safe.

We can’t prevent our children from growing up. And we can’t shelter them from all of life’s dangers and difficulties. But we can commend their care to our Everlasting Father in heaven, our refuge and hope.

*** Moses, the man of God, wrote Psalm 90! Here are what he said in Psalm 90: *** God has been, is and will forever be God in Psalm 90:1-2! *** God is not bound by human time schedule in Psalm 90:4! *** We die according to God’s time table in Psalm 90:3, 5-6! *** God’s anger of our sins destroys and terrifies us! Our best days during our 70-80 years on earth are filled with trouble and sorrow and then we are gone in Psalm 90:7-10! *** Moses’ advice in Psalm 90:11-12, “If only we knew the power of...
