What does “intense” love look like? It doesn’t mean it is possessive or overbearing—the eloquent definition St. Paul provides in 1 Corinthians 13 certainly always applies! But perhaps we could think of intense love as being “undiluted” or concentrated, not having an agenda or other motives. And love of that sort can help make up for our shortcomings; it can even pave the way for reconciliation when we are off course. Whether your love is expressed in hospitality, preaching, service or some other gift or ministry, remember that they are divinely distributed, having their source in “God’s varied grace” (v. 10).
So, today, rely on Jesus to help your love find a new level of intensity. Go the extra mile, pay a little closer attention, extend a hand to someone you might find difficult. Then pause to thank God that you get to be an amplifier of God’s glory and a participant in his mission of mercy.

Amen. :)
