St. Christopher Magallanes and Companions
Jesus Prays for Us
And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one…
John 17:22

I am deeply moved by today’s Gospel: Jesus is interceding for us in the 21st century as our high priest and heavenly mediator, just as he prayed for those seated at the table with him that day. His promise to pray for all of humanity leaves no doubt in God’s eternal hope for us. When our words and actions demonstrate our failure to put aside envy, bias and fear, we can remind ourselves that Jesus promised to pray for us. Then, we can try again.

Belief in this promise moved St. Christopher Magallanes and his companions to give their lives for the cause of religious freedom and unity in Mexico. Jesus lived and died to unite us, yet we continue to find ways to separate ourselves from one another and from God. Today, in our words and actions, let’s try again to love one another unconditionally.

St. Christopher Magallanes, pray for us, as we learn to love.

*** Why is that, “Jesus lived and died to unite us, yet we continue to find ways to separate ourselves from one another and from God.”? Because we are in this fallen world and not on the other side with Jesus face to face!!! *** Loved, “I am deeply moved by today’s Gospel: Jesus is interceding for us in the 21st century as our high priest and heavenly mediator!” *** Jesus is our ultimate High Priest in Hebrews 4:14-16, “We have a great High Priest. He has gone up into heaven. He is Jesus the Son of God. So let...

Right before Jesus prayed for Himself, His immediate disciples and all His disciples of all times (in that order as an example for us to pray) in John 17, He stated the fact that they (we) didn’t pray in His Name in John 16:23b-24, “What I’m about to tell you is true. My Father will give you anything you ask for in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in My Name. Ask, and you will receive what you ask for. Then your joy will be complete!” *** Is that statement true in my life?!?!?! Do I...

At times, I find it difficult to pray for unity or people who have hurt me.. Thanks to Jesus Christ for allowing the Holy Spirit to highlight my shortcomings every day, and the words that God wants me to remember. I thank you so very much for embracing me with my spiritual side and not always focusing on the human side. Amen.

Friday, it's hard to overlook what we might feel are unkind words. My response is to internally say a Hail Mary immediately for that person. Whether it's a relative I never liked or someone who cuts me off in traffic or an offensive (to me) comment, I just say a Hail Mary and leave it in God's hands. You'll be amazed how much easier it is to interact with these people who have previously annoyed me A LOT! It takes time, but it has never failed me. It's also better for your blood pressure!

Deborah your words send me to my dream of a world with unconditional love. Ah can imagine what a wonderful world it would be?! Thank you Deborah for your great reflections. Blessings to all the LFF, especially those with extra needs these days. Holy Spirit fill the hearts of all to guide us to a more heavenly earth.
