Fifth Week of Easter
Chosen!
…you do not belong to the world…
John 15:19

The Church strikingly uses the five chapters in the Gospel of John comprising Jesus’ farewell discourse at the Last Supper for Easter Season readings. But what could better convey the life of the Church after the resurrection than Jesus’ own anticipation of his triumph over death? His Apostles will share the intimacy of his sacrifice: “You do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world.” Chosen! When Jesus makes a choice, everything changes.

It happens to Paul in the reading from Acts; so eager an apostle is he that he’s going in three directions at once till a beautiful vision decides his destination: “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” (v. 9). And off he goes, apparently joined by Luke.

Jesus chooses you and me too! My “Macedonia” was Honduras, a place I barely knew existed when I first heard its call. But here I am for the past twenty years: to live and pray with the poor.

Let’s all say it together, “Choose me!”

- Miguel Dulick

*** What does it mean for Jesus to choose me to come out of the world in John 15:19c, “I chose you to come out of the world,”? It means I am not part of the world and the world hates me in John 15:19bc, “you are no longer part of the world…so it hates you!” *** Why does the world hate me when I choose to follow Jesus? Because the world hates Jesus first in John 15:18, “If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first!” *** What else should I expect if I choose to follow...

Is it me or does it seem like the enemy has been much more active in this world in a less evident way? Our prayer needs here tell me the line between right and wrong, good choices and bad are less defined. There is no less evil than prior ages just seems technology and the attitudes of the world have blurred the lines of good and evil hence the devil’s ability to trick more souls. Just a thought as I’ve had so many thoughts and emotions warring these days but I will tell you—-you here have helped me immensely to...

Good morning, Living Faith Family. I am asking for prayers to stop the murders that is occurring on a daily basic in Trinidad ???????? and Tobago. Parents are responsible and that they should teach them to pray from early in their upbringing. The seniors are not safe in their homes anymore.

Good morning to all our great LFF friends and contributors who choose to create our beautiful reflections. Today I am choosing to send a spiritual Rose to each and every one of you to remind you that you are loved and valued by Our Lord Jesus Christ. As a flower lady for 50+ years, I realize that the Lord has chosen me to bring joy, hope and comfort to people when they receive a bouquet. We are all part of the everlasting garden of life and we can be sure that the Master Gardener drew those plans for all people...

Amen to that, God chose to create us. He chose to save humanity when we went astray, He chose to involve us in our own salvation. —- He chose to give us free will, which means we can chose whether or not we’re in or out. —- Yes it’s a personal choice we all have to make many times as we journey Home. To sustain us He first gave us the prophets, then the good example of his Son, then he left us The (His) Word and as an eternal Pièce de résistance He gave each and every one of...
