Second Week of Easter
Giving God Our Whole Hearts
We must obey God rather than men.
Acts 5:29

Peter and the other Apostles are ordered by the high priest to stop preaching about Jesus. They’re response is simple: They are following God’s command and will not disobey!

All of us are confronted by situations in which we are tempted to follow the ways of the world rather than God’s command. Will we walk by the homeless on the street or stop and approach them as persons of inestimable worth? Will we offer God our first fruits or be stingy with our time, talent and treasure? Will we foster hatred and division or work for peace and understanding (even among those with whom we disagree)?

God doesn’t ask us for half-measures. He asks for our whole hearts—to follow him without reservations, even when it goes against the ways of the world.

Lord Jesus, help me be bold in proclaiming you to the world through my words and my actions!

He did it to turn Israel away from their sins and forgive them.” *** But the Good News is offensive to those who (think they, the religious...
