The Octave of Easter
Speaking Love’s Truth
Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel…
Mark 16:15

Once, when I was in New York City, I came up from the subway and was met by a preacher with a bullhorn. He was yelling at passersby, calling them sinners, screaming about hell and damnation. In exactly that same moment, I watched a young businesswoman offer a homeless person a fresh cup of coffee that she had purchased. The Gospel message was spoken loud and clear to me that day, but through actions, not in words.

To proclaim the Gospel in our own lives is not just to speak the word but to live out the message. To be a proclaimer, to speak Love’s truth, is to live it from the marrow of our bones. It is to do what Mary Magdalene and the disciples did, sharing the Good News of Christ—without fear—through our service and love.

May my life speak your love, Lord.

Was the yelling preacher providing a service out of love? It is widely understood that highest form of love is to “Will the good of another”… Do we know the hearts and minds of the preacher or the businesswoman? Many of the prophets of the Old Testament provided similar warnings and were martyred for it. The business woman was giving alms (a directive of the Church). Rather than contrast the two characters, perhaps this is a “both/and” scenario?! Perhaps we prefer the business woman because we are scared to share the word? Has our understanding of love been so perverted/distorted...

What is the Good News of Jesus Christ? My heart is beating fast because what I am about to share with each of you is not what you want to hear!!! *** John the Baptist’s first recorded preaching of the Good News in Matthew 3:1-2 (Mark 1:4, Luke 3:3), “In those days John the Baptist came to the Judean wilderness and began preaching. His message was, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”  *** Peter’s first recorded preaching of the Good News in Acts 2:37-38, “Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said...

Could you please refrain from the sermons and opinions and let us lay people rejoice and absorb the daily devotionals? A simple Amen or Alleluia would suffice. Thank you and God bless

I was a very good and successful person converted and baptized as a Catholic in 1994! I finally met Jesus personally October, 2000, at the bottom of the fire pit ❤️ my honeymoon suite *** The first thing the Holy Spirit did was to convict of my sins in repentance calling Jesus my Savior ✝️ *** The second thing He did was for me to write a suicide note giving up my life for Jesus calling Him Lord ✝️ *** The third thing He did was to send me to Bible Study Fellowship to get my training ✝️

My CBS (Community Bible Study) lesson this week: Praying against Evil - Q25. How has your understanding of the imprecatory psalms grown or changed through your study of these four psalms (28, 58, 83, 109)? My response - We like to talk a lot about God's love (easy to the ears) and not much about God's wrath (uncomfortable to the ears)...if God is love without wrath, Jesus didn't need to come and die on the cross...God can just forgive all sins without sending Jesus…If He is God and He is good, then He should do just that…human perspective :-(

Sarah your comments are close to my heart. I have never been one of those that will yell out and make a big scene about anything. I truly believe that living our daily lives in a good positive way and show to others the goodness of God through loving words and actions soothes not only them but us to find the true love of God. Blessings to all the LFF, especially those with extra needs these days. Cheri may that closed door lead to a large open window to help you. Holy Spirit fill the hearts of all to guide...

Stormi, great passage from Isaiah. Reminding us that God’s love will always be with us. I admire Pope Leo and his messages of Peace and love for all humanity. We can do our part by remaining steadfast in God’s Word. Thank you for sharing.

One of my favorites passages: Isaiah 54:10 Though the mountains leave their place and the hills be shaken, my love shall never leave you nor my covenant of peace be shaken, says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

Thank you Sarah for your simple message of what it takes to share love and show the gospel message through simple acts of kindness. Your story reminds me of when I was teenager growing up in Hawaii. I was taking the bus to Dole Pineapple Canary (no longer existing) someone came on the city bus asking everyone on the bus, "Are you saved?" "Are you saved?" When he came to me and he asked me that question, I said, "Saved from what?", "I am not drowning." The man looked at me and said, "Saved from sin." Being a son of...
