The Octave of Easter
Help Someone Recognize Jesus
So the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.”
John 21:7

Peter declared he was going fishing. After Jesus died and rose from the dead, life is different. So Peter returns to what is familiar. Perhaps time in the boat will allow Peter to think and process the events of the past week. By telling the others what he was doing, some choose to join him. It’s a good thing John went with him.

As Jesus stands on the shore and tells them to cast the net on the other side, only John realizes who is speaking to them. He cries out, “It is the Lord.” Peter needed John to tell him, and Peter’s response is that of a true disciple.

At times, we all need someone to fill the role of John, and sometimes we are called to be John to another. Be on the lookout for the Lord, and do not be afraid to point him out when you find him.

Lord, help me to recognize your presence in my life.

I have had a severe health issue going on for over a year now. I had almost given up that God was trying to help me. But recently I have seen where a door was closed on me and I was so upset and recently I have seen where the door that was closed on me was the right thing because something better happened. The Lord is navigating me through this!

Why the difference between John and Peter? They were both in Jesus’ inner circle for 3 years…they both ran to and found the empty tomb? *** Neither of them understood the empty tomb. But John believed in John 20:6-9, “Then Simon Peter came along behind him (John). He went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there. He also saw the funeral cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place. It was separate from the linen. The disciple (John) who had reached the tomb first also went inside. He...
