Holy Saturday (Easter Vigil)
Darkness Swept Away
We know that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer has power over him.
Romans 6:9

Have you ever hit rock bottom? Have you ever been in a situation of such sadness and darkness that you could not imagine ever—I mean ever—feeling anything close to joy again? That there was simply no way to loosen the chains, to not feel the weight of grief, frustration or helplessness that afflicted you at that moment?

And have you ever made it through? Have you found that with time and grace, light glimmers and the weight that seemed to define your days has lightened?

That glimpse? Take that and blow it up, expand it to eternity and let it surround and then sweep away all the heavy darkness of your entire life—of the world.

That’s resurrection. That’s the promise. That, in Christ, none of that has any power, anymore. Ever.

Alleluia!

Alleluia!

*** What was the last thing God created on earth? Human beings, male and female in Genesis 1:26-27, “Then God said, “Let us make human beings so that they are like us. Let them rule over the fish in the seas and the birds in the sky. Let them rule over the livestock and all the wild animals. And let them rule over all the creatures that move along the ground.”  So God created human beings in His own likeness. He created them to be like Himself. He created them as male and female.” *** God created everything from day one to...

Yes! Alleluia! Amy, I do believe your words touched everyone’s heart! I can honestly say that I don’t know anyone who hasn’t gone through the darkness and heaviness of a challenging time in their lives. I’ve had more than several. I almost said “more than my share”, but I have to say that each time I found out I was more resilient than I ever thought I could be. And each time I drew closer to God and the light got brighter, the heaviness faded. Like Easter, what JOY to be so loved…the BEST is yet to come! Happy Easter...

Thank you for your powerful reflection this morning, Amy. Today I pray that the people who are suffering all over the world will feel a glimpse of light and hope. Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for bringing Your Light to all humanity and may Your Peace and Love fill us with the joy of knowing You’re always with us. Amen.

A day of silence and reflection what does it mean to live in darkness all the time? I had a dark time a year ago. As I continue with living in the darkness, I realize that the power of the Holy One is with me. Some days the darkness clouds my memory, other days the light and joy comes. Joy comes when I know the Lord is with me, when the light gives me courage to keep living to do the best I can. Give me strength Lord to keep living even though I struggle living in the darkness some...

“Today is a day of silence, waiting and hope.” Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.” Prov. 3:5&6 In silence we wait, hope and trust.

Amy I can answer your first question with a yes, I am reminded of one particular event that led me into my dark night of the soul. Yes I had glimmers of light and made it through. It was beyond a night it was an odyssey. But it was an awakening to self awareness —— From our birth to our death I believe our lives are a journey of growth through experiences and challenges. —- I heard a saying, if you’re going through hell, keep going. I listen the Randy Travis song Through The Fire when I need encouragement —-...

Hello Salina, I listened to that song and saved it into a favourites folder along with Randy Travis.
