None of us would dare suppose we know God the Father the way Jesus knows him. Yet, if we say, “No, I don’t know the Father,” are we liars? If we boldly say “yes,” we may be asked for proof. And we can be confident that what Jesus has in mind is more than a superficial “knowing about” someone. Fortunately, we can know Jesus through the Gospels. And in coming to know the Son of God, we have come to know the Father. In everything Jesus has told us about his Father, there is unconditional love, forgiveness and the Father’s desire for our love. The proof of how well we know the Father, through his Son, is in how we live our lives.
Will we love one another unconditionally, forgive those who hurt us and desire nothing more than God’s love?
