Never Forgotten
Can a mother forget her infant,
be without tenderness for the child of her womb?
Even should she forget,
I will never forget you.
Isaiah 49:15

I have been blessed to carry six babies in my womb (one was lost to miscarriage), and although motherhood has carried its share of challenges, nothing has made me so utterly split apart by love and desperation. As a mother, my children are never far from my thoughts. Even the two babies who have flown from my nest are always close to my heart, never forgotten.

God uses the love of a mother to show how much he loves his people; yet, his love surpasses even the best human mother’s bonds. He remembers us, and he always holds us close. He promises a future of hope to a weary, exiled nation. He tenderly reminds his people the hungry will be fed and those in darkness will be led into light.

You are not overlooked. You are never abandoned.

Lord, when I feel forgotten, remind me that I am always held in your care.

He will be with you. He will never leave you. He’ll never desert you. So don’t be afraid. Don’t lose hope.” *** Joshua 1:5b-6a, “I will be with you, just as I was with Moses. I will never leave you. I will never desert you. Be strong and brave!” *** Isaiah 41:10, “So...

Thank you Kate, for the reminder that God's love is like a mother. Reminds me of a children's book "God's Love is Like a Mother Hen." My wife and I took turns reading this to our daughter when she was an infant. The Mother Hen puts the wings over the little chicks when it rains, snows, when it is windy, gathers them in when there is danger. I can't remember the whole entire story. I just know it ends with a Mother Hen always remember the chicks are unconditionally loved all the time.
