Lenten Weekday
The Source of Strength
When I called, you answered me;
you built up strength within me.
Psalm 138:3

My son was engaged in a challenging ministry. For months, the group of young people lived in community, shared prayer and served in various ways during the day. It was hard. There was attrition. By the end of the year, they’d probably lost a fifth of the original cohort.

At the end of it, he said, “If I hadn’t been living in community, I wouldn’t have made it either.”

There are so many ways that the Lord gives us strength. It can come as we open ourselves to his grace and just find ourselves stronger in mind, spirit and body. He can bless us with wisdom that gives us perspective and, therefore, strength.

And, of course, God answers our call and strengthens us through others who share our joys and pain, who laugh and cry with us. They are brothers and sisters with whom we can stay strong and even joyful during the journey serving God’s people.

God, may I be a source of strength to others.

******* Where does my strength come from? *** Psalm 121:1-3, “I look up to the mountains. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord. He is the Maker of heaven and earth. He gives me strength!” *** Isaiah 40:29, “He gives strength to those who are tired. He gives power to those who are weak!” ******* How can I be a source of strength to others? *** 1 Peter...

As retirement approached a few years ago, I was very worried how it would play out since we had not prepared well for it all. Through the hand of God, we found a good retirement investment company, sold our house, and moved in to a senior retirement community. God has blessed us so abundantly, more than we could ever imagine. Having our finances in order and having a loving, Christian community to share with, to serve and be served, has been such a joy. I thank God every day for the direction He has led us and continue to place...

Praise be to God Amy for your words and wisdom today. Community/family is always strengthening me to service and be served. I find strength in being around people to share life together. I don’t know what I would do without this community and the community I am connected to in my work, connected to a special group on Wednesday evenings and even the church where people gather and connect with one another.

Amy wonderful words to uplift and motivate thank you. May God give me the strength to help those I need to help and be the person he wants me to be. Blessings to all the LFF, especially those with extra needs these days and my God fill the hearts/souls of all to guide us to a heavenly earth. To be the strength in a weary world.
