St. Hedwig, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
The Key
I will send to them prophets and Apostles.
Luke 11:49

Jesus is nowhere near Jerusalem yet, but he is already foretelling his execution, just like all the other prophets, “from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah” (v. 51). He charges “this generation” with the whole line of murders.

I guess I imagine myself free of such violent crimes, but what does Jesus cite as the signal sin of the prophet-killers? “You have taken away the key of knowledge,” snatched from “those trying to enter” (v. 52).

Do I do that? Do I guard my privilege and position from others I want to keep out? Maybe we miss the connection between arrogance and violence, pride and persecution. But it has led to immoral behavior, practically, since the dawn of Creation! Let’s open the door, wide, especially for the poor and lost, to find the true “key of knowledge.” How do we understand that phrase? The key is the prophetic Word that opens the door to the Kingdom of God.

Miguel thank you. Your words are soothing and helpful. I know God is the only real key but there are so many different other keys out there it's hard to decide which one is the right one. Making choices in life, praying that It's Gods word and not another is so very hard. It scares me a great deal. Blessings to all the LFF, especially those with extra needs. May his hands hold and guide you to right key in life and in him! May the Holy Trinity fills the hearts of all in this world and guide us to...

Hi Stormi thank you for the response today. My writing and sharing are just spiritual moments for me. I just want to share the joy of knowing the Spirit is alive and well. The Spirit guides my words, leads my heart with joy and thanksgiving. You have gone through losse of horses, struggles within the family, and just a lot of emotional stuff. You mentioned you have many keys to choose from. Hold onto the key s of gentleness, self control, wisdom, compassion, forgiveness. Do your best not to take the key of temptation any sin. Take the key of...

This is my third time writing this response, the other two times got erased in the writing process…may be I am not supposed to post this! Stormi, this may not be what you want to hear… it is interesting your comment, “I know God is the only real key but there are so many different other keys out there it's hard to decide which one is the right one.” *** If God is the Only real Key, why do I want to bother with any other keyS? Do I really believe there is Only one real Key? If I miss any...

Thank you, Miguel! Your messages are both real and full of true deep love for all humanity. Today I will pray that Our Lord will give me the key to unconditional love and compassion for those who are suffering in any way. Please help me get the blinders off and understand that the truest words of Jesus are to give everyone the dignity that they were endowed by the Father.

Sharing with you my joy… We did Homiletics (a process to study Scripture resulting in a homily) on Daniel 6 yesterday morning at BSF with our 15 UE (ages 7-9) students with 3 in each group. *** Content (summary - think and shrink the passage) was provided for them to work out the Truth (about God, people mentioned in the passage and yourself) and Application (change of mind, heart and action) of the passage using Homiletics. *** Here are their responses…in Daniel *** 6:1-5 Truth - That God put Daniel in charge; Daniel did a great job; Application - We...

What prompted the conversation in today’s Gospel reading in Luke? Who were Jesus addressing in these conversations? Am I one of them Jesus is addressing? *** Let’s look back at the context in Luke 11:37-38, “Jesus finished speaking. Then a Pharisee invited Him to eat with Him. So Jesus went in and took His place at the table. But the Pharisee was surprised. He noticed that Jesus did not wash before the meal.” *** Jesus was talking to the Pharisees and the experts of the laws. These were the very religious people of those days!!! And yet He accused them...

Ever get the wrong key for the door to your office,?home or car? Ever locked the key in the house , office or car? Keys are important for everyday life. Keys give us a sense of safety and privilege. People nowadays can have codes to lock the doors of their house and I often wonder if people who have those locks; “Do they have an extra key some place?” In case they forget the code? My parents have a lock box for an extra key outside the house. I wonder if I will get a key to my room in...

Had a smile on my face, Scott, remembering the times I could go to my long past on relatives houses and finding the key under the doormat!
