‘The Root’
For the love of money is the root of all evils…
1 Timothy 6:10

Society tends to measure value with dollar signs. Our “heroes” are CEOs, sports figures and entertainers who make extraordinary amounts of money. Wealth is too often our measure of social status and importance. As a result, it is easy to be dissatisfied when it seems like so many people have all the security and power that comes with wealth while we may struggle to provide for our families. It is easy to believe money is the key to happiness.

Such envy and dissatisfaction are nothing new. Great disparities of wealth were known in the first century too. Paul’s letter to Timothy is a blunt warning that Christians should not be seduced by love of money. “For we brought nothing into the world, just as we shall not be able to take anything out of it. If we have food and clothing, we shall be content with that” (1 Timothy 6:7-8).

Holy Spirit, help me to count my blessings and be content with them.

Make sure we understand that having money and being rich are not the problem and evil!!! 1 Timothy 6:10, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows!” *** The ‘LOVE’ of money is the root of all kinds of evil! *** It looks like this, “craving money!” *** What are the consequences of “craving money” in the ‘LOVE’ of money? Here they are, “wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows!” ******* There are those...

Greg thank for those words I wish all would hear and listen to them. The love of money spreads evil into a community and world. I live in a what used to be a small agricultural community. Because of our great location people decided they like this place and are coming and building million dollar mansions then complaining that there is a family next to them that lives in a trailer, with tractors and animals. It was there when they built their house. Really? It's all a show and greed. They are shoving out all that this place was about....

Stormi I sympathize with you and your feelings about losing your horse. You can vent on this site anytime as far as I'm concerned. I am praying for you and your animals right now. Anna's dad told me she heading to Florida for treatment of her chemotherapy, please pray for her. Scott when people as me how I am ,if I don't know them, I usually respond with "Better than I deserve " Ken

Oh Stormi, what a heartbreaker for you. I wish I could console you and your other horse. I can't imagine the loneliness and confusion of your other horse. I'm an animal lover, and my whole philosophy is ~ you can kill the bad guy...even the good guy, but do NOT touch his horse or his dog! God Bless you Stormi, know that you are prayed for everyday, and you can vent all you want to us!

Don't be too concerned about the "treasures" of the world, money power, status, etc. Place your trust in God and He will bless you more than you can ever imagine.

Blessings on today’s reading and devotional. There is a saying I learned from a friend . When someone asked her, “How are you?” She would respond by saying, “I am blessed by the best and so are you.” The blessings (gifts) we have to share makes us rich with the treasures of heaven rooted in faith.
