Third Sunday of Easter
Surprised by Grace
Cast the net…and you will find something.
John 21:6

Before every meeting, every workshop and every direction session, I always start with a prayer. I do it for a very specific reason. I have noticed that when I do, the event always goes better. One might presume that God is always present and thus no prayer is needed, but the explicit prayer seems to make a difference.

In today’s Gospel, Peter and his coworkers had been fishing all night but caught nothing. But, at Jesus’ invitation and with trust in him, they lower their nets again. Their efforts are rewarded with an overflowing catch.

Lifting a prayer before each event reminds us that it is God who gives the abundance. It calls upon the Lord for a special blessing, and no prayer is ever unheeded.

Before you engage in any event or task, you might say a little prayer asking for God’s blessing. You might be surprised by the result.

Stormi…I saw today’s comments and went back to the Reflection I missed yesterday, and saw your post. Please know that even when your strength may not be able to bring you to the Living Faith site, I absolutely know that many of us pray for each other, every day! So, take comfort in knowing you are covered in daily prayer. I’ve amped up my prayers for all of your tests to be God blessed - with His peace to embrace you and free of any cancer. ❣️

Living faith family usually ask You guys to pray for the souls in purgatory and those souls who have no one to pray for them. I will share 5 prayers for the souls in purgatory. Today I saw Amy and her mom at Terry house told them I would pray for them and ask Living faith family to pray for them also. 127 1) Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen. 2) Prayer to Have a Merciful Heart Towards Others by St. Faustina O Jesus, I understand that Your mercy is beyond all imagining. I ask You, therefore, to make my heart so big that there will be room in it for the needs of all the souls living on this whole earthly globe. O Jesus, my love reaches beyond the world to the souls suffering in Purgatory, and I want to exercise mercy toward the by means of indulgenced prayers. God’s mercy is unfathomable and inexhaustible, just as God Himself is unfathomable. Were I to use the strongest words for expressing this mercy of God, they are nothing in comparison with what it is in reality. O Jesus, make my heart sensitive to all the sufferings of my neighbor whether they be of body or of soul. O my Jesus, I know that You act toward us as we act toward our neighbor. My Jesus, make my heart like unto Your merciful Heart. Jesus, help me to go through life doing good to everyone. Amen. Source: Diary of St. Faustina, II, #132 3) Eternal Rest Prayer V. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. R. And let the perpetual light shine upon them. And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. 4) Prayer to Jesus Christ for the Holy Souls by St. Alphonsus Liguori O most sweet Jesus, through the bloody sweat which Thou didst suffer in the Garden of Gethsemane, have mercy on these Blessed Souls. Have mercy on them. O Lord. O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer during Thy most cruel scourging, have mercy on them O Lord O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer in Thy most painful crowning with thorns, have mercy on them. O Lord. O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer in carrying Thy cross to Calvary, have mercy on them. O Lord. O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer during Thy most cruel Crucifixion, have mercy on them. O Lord. O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer in Thy most bitter agony on the Cross, have mercy on them. O Lord. O most sweet Jesus, through the immense pain which Thou didst suffer in breathing forth Thy Blessed Soul, have mercy on them. O Lord. (Recommend yourself to the Souls in Purgatory and mention your intentions) Blessed Souls, we have prayed for thee; we entreat thee, who are so dear to God, and who are secure of never losing Him, to pray for us miserable sinners, who are in danger of being damned, and of losing God forever. Let us pray: O God, the author of mercy, the lover of the salvation of mankind; we address thy clemency, in behalf of our brethren, relations, and benefactors, who are departed this life, that by the intercession of Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, and of all the saints, thou wouldst receive them into, the enjoyment of eternal happiness; through Christ our Lord. Amen. Source: EWTN 5) Litany for the Poor Souls in Purgatory O Jesus, Thou suffered and died that all mankind might be saved and brought to eternal happiness.  Hear our pleas for further mercy on the souls of: My dear parents and grandparents, my Jesus mercy! My brothers and sisters and other near relatives, my Jesus mercy! My godparents and sponsors of confirmation, my Jesus mercy! My spiritual and temporal benefactors, my Jesus mercy! The mighty, who now are powerless, my Jesus mercy! The once spiritually blind, who now see their folly, my Jesus mercy! The frivolous, who spent their time in idleness, my Jesus mercy! The poor, who did not seek the treasures of heaven, my Jesus mercy! The tepid, who devoted little time to prayer, my Jesus mercy! The indolent, who neglected to perform good works, my Jesus mercy! Those of little faith, who neglected the frequent reception of the Sacraments, my Jesus mercy! The habitual sinners, who owe their salvation to a miracle of grace, my Jesus mercy! Parents who failed to watch over their children, my Jesus mercy! Superiors who were not solicitous for the salvation of those entrusted to them, my Jesus mercy! My own poor soul when I shall have to appear before Thy judgment seat, my Jesus mercy! Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them: For evermore with Thy saints, because Thou art gracious. May the prayer of Thy suppliant people, we beseech Thee, O Lord, benefit the souls of Thy departed servants and handmaids: that Thou mayest both deliver them from all their sins, and make them to be partakers of Thy redemption. Amen. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let the perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. Ken

Stormi, whether you post or not you are in my prayers and I ask our Heavenly Father to meet the needs of friends here what ever they may be. So many names here are emblazoned on my heart and as I go through my days I find the Spirit stops me with particular names for reasons only known above. AD I will pray for your folks too—some of us seem to go from one awful hardship to another desperately wanting a life without a mound of strife. I willingly admit I complain complain and worry God in conversation over why, why. My mind knows I need not know the why’s, He has purpose and plan in it all but my heart still pines for an easier life. Praying for myself as well as all who are tired and weary to find the quiet place within where we hear what God speaks through the hardships.

I pray that all involved will find hope in God’s promises for His people in *** Isaiah 25:8, “He will swallow up death forever. The Lord and King will wipe away the tears from everyone’s face. He will remove the shame of His people from the whole earth. The Lord has spoken!” And *** Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death.’ (Isaiah 25:8) And there will be no more sadness. There will be no more crying or pain. Things are no longer the way they used to be.” *** I long for the return of Jesus or when I see Him face to face whichever comes first ✝️

*** All prayer must be offered in faith (James 1:6), in the name of the Lord Jesus (John 16:23), and in the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26)! *** Prayer is not just talking to God but also listening to Him! *** Prayer in His Word helps me line up all my heart, all my mind and all my strength with His! Praying is not my work but His work ✝️ ******* I tell my students that asking for and praying to the Holy Spirit first before opening the Bible makes it God’s Word. Without the prayer to the Holy Spirit, the bible is just another ordinary academic book! That makes everything I do my work if I don’t pray first! And if I pray first before everything I do makes it His work! *** Romans 8:26-27, “In the same way, the Holy Spirit helps us when we are weak. We don’t know what we should pray for. But the Spirit himself prays for us. He prays through groans too deep for words. God, who looks into our hearts, knows the mind of the Spirit. And the Spirit prays for God’s people just as God wants him to pray!” *** Jude 1:20, “But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith. Let the Holy Spirit guide and help you when you pray!” *** Ephesians 6:18, “At all times, pray by the power of the Spirit. Pray all kinds of prayers. Be watchful, so that you can pray. Always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people!” ******* Oh Lord, what a tough week and another difficult week ahead! You know that already…help me chose ‘stewardship’ Vs ‘control,’ teach me to know You, to love You, to enjoy You and to glorify You above all else, and to continue to remind me to pray for the Salvation of all the people I encounter during these next few days ✝️ I pray by faith in Jesus’ Name with the power of the Holy Spirit and I trust that I will receive it! Amen ✝️

Prayers of Thanksgiving for the good news about your son’s surgery, Bill. And a big thank you for allowing us to follow the novena for Pope Francis. Every day I find out who he was during his younger years. He really had a full life and gave it all up to be “The People’s Pope. “ May our Church be blessed with someone as kind, wise and Christlike as Our Beloved Holy Father. He is resting in the arms of Our Lord Jesus. ❤️
