The Octave of Easter
Empty Nets Now Full
Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We also will come with you.” …that night they caught nothing.
John 21:3

This story of Jesus revealing himself to his disciples for the third time after being raised from the dead encourages me. They had no idea who he was when it was dawn and Jesus was standing by the shore, asking them if they had caught anything to eat. When they said “No,” he told them to cast their nets to the right side of the boat. They caught so many they had to drag them to shore, realizing then the man on the shore with the charcoal fire was Jesus. He said to them: “Come have breakfast.”

When we go back to doing something we haven’t done in a long time and do not succeed, let us hope we hear something encouraging that suggests a positive change. If we try it, and it brings real success, let us pray that we recognize Jesus is blessing us. And give thanks over breakfast.

Patricia thank you for your comments this morning. Homily this am priests told us Peter was uncomfortable with his faith and went back to what he was comfortable with fishing. Priest told us we should move out of our comfort zone and try be more an evangelist. Interesting. Padre Pio's saying for today I will share on Obedience Where there is no obedience, there is no virtue, where there is no virtue, there is no good. We're good is wanting, there is no love. Where there is no love, there is no God. Where God is not, there is no Heaven Ken

At this point in Scripture, Jesus has already appeared to Peter and other disciples 3 times! Why did Peter and other disciples decided to go fishing? *** When we are in a difficult, confused and don’t know what to do situations, we will do what we feel comfortable and safe to do! For them it was fishing that they have done all their lives! *** Remember the comfort food, the pornography, the unsafe person that you kept for a long time? You feel it is better to have something you know (even if they are bad for you) than the unknown! *** To seek Jesus is better than to remember the success (comfort) of the past!!! ******* Acts 4:12, “There is Salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved!”

Beautiful reflection Pat. When Jesus steps into our situations, everything changes for the better. Its truly a blessing just to recognize Jesus's presence in and around us in difficult times and to witness how His presence turns situations over. Without Jesus, we simply can't. Thus, we need to let go and let God, Fill Up our Empty Nets. What a catch!! Sending prayers and blessings for all with special needs and intentions today. Happy Friday in The Octave of Easter, Living Faith Family.
