Wednesday of Holy Week
Speak Up! Show Up!
The Lord GOD has given me
a well-trained tongue,
That I might know how to speak to the weary
a word that will rouse them.
Isaiah 50:4

Indeed, the Almighty gave Jesus a well-trained tongue. His words are few between the time he is handed over to the authorities and his resurrection, but those words are full of truth for those who believe.

As modern-day disciples, by virtue of our Baptism, we, too, are equipped with well-trained tongues—and hearts. We are called to share what we have learned about living as Jesus desires us to live in our thoughts, words and actions. We are called to share not only with our families and friends but also with those who don’t know the Lord or who don’t yet believe in his saving grace. We just may be the vessel that provides the example that awakens them.

Follow Jesus’ example. Don’t be silent when the truth needs to be shared.

Jesus, I ask for the faith and courage to speak your truth today and always.

To me, this Thursday is "Agonizing Thursday!" You don't think Jesus has shown the disciples how to serve others for the past 3 years while they were together? *** Jesus told His disciples three times of His death and resurrection in Matthew 16:21-23, 17:22-23, 20, 17-19; Mark 8:31-32, 9:30-32, 10:32-34; Luke 9:21-22, 43-45, 18:31-34! And yet, they didn't get it until after the resurrection!!! *** Jesus told everyone that He is the fulfillment of the Old Testament as He quoted Isaiah 61:1-2 in Luke 4:16-21! And yet, they doubted Jesus because they recognized Him as Joseph's son!!! *** How about you and I? What is it we don't get and doubt what Jesus is showing and telling us? How much do you hear and understand Jesus in the Old Testament and the fulfillment in the New Testament? ******* God's Word is where I learn and understand God's person, purpose and plan for me and this world in Matthew 5:17-20, "Do not think I have come to get rid of what is written in the Law or in the Prophets. I have not come to do this. Instead, I have come to fulfill what is written. What I’m about to tell you is true. Heaven and earth will disappear before the smallest letter disappears from the Law. Not even the smallest mark of a pen will disappear from the Law until everything is completed. Do not ignore even one of the least important commands. And do not teach others to ignore them. If you do, you will be called the least important person in the kingdom of heaven. Instead, practice and teach these commands. Then you will be called important in the kingdom of heaven. Here is what I tell you. You must be more godly than the Pharisees and the teachers of the law. If you are not, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven!" *** The purpose of His Word in Isaiah 55:10-11, "The rain and the snow come down from the sky. They do not return to it without watering the earth. They make plants come up and grow. The plants produce seeds for farmers. They also produce food for people to eat. The words I speak are like that. They will not return to me without producing results. They will accomplish what I want them to. They will do exactly what I sent them to do!" *** Check out hese Bible studies and ask the Holy Spirit be your teacher of His Word: * Little Rock Scripture Study * Bible Study Fellowship * Community Bible Study *** "Agonizing Thursday" to see one of your disciples betrayed you :-( Peter didn't understand the meaning of washing the feet and instead asked his hands and head to be washed as well :-( ******* Do you understand Jesus' answer to Peter's request to wash his hands and head in John 13:10a, "Jesus answered, “People who have had a bath need to wash only their feet. The rest of their body is clean!"

Have a blessed Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Resurrection Sunday, my beloved LFFamily ✝️ We won’t be able to post comments starting tomorrow until next Tuesday! *** Can you imagine calling it a good day when someone dies? Well that is what we call the Friday when Jesus died ✝️ 1 Peter 2:24, “He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By His wounds you are healed!” *** What is it about the Holy Saturday “Holy?” Romans 6:8, 10a, “And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with Him. When He died, He died once to break the power of sin!” *** What does Resurrection Sunday mean to you? 1 Peter 1:3, “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation!” ✝️ ******* I don’t like “Easter!” The word "Easter" itself has origins in the Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre, associated with the spring equinox and fertility. Many of the traditions associated with Easter, like eggs and bunnies, also have roots in pagan spring celebrations :-(

Good morning Annie, I join the others in love and prayers to you as you process your diagnosis. Praying that you feel our Lord’s presence and strength with you and know that your LFF friends will be praying for you every day. Take care of yourself, Annie.

Praying for you Annie. One step at a time and know you are the one gifted with your body so you listen to the doctors and make the best choices for that body, none will be wrong because Our Lord will be with you in whichever path you take on this difficult journey. Yesterday was Garrett’s mid year follow up at Grady. The surgeon was elated in his progress and said there are some with a similar injury/surgery that never gain as much back as he has in just over 5 months. There is a long way to go yet so PT/OT will continue until the end of the year at least, pray for my husband as he drives Garrett 4 hours each Thursday for these appointments—I’m always concerned for their safety in the Atlanta traffic as well as his physical health with the stress of a daily job and the FML time while he cares for us. I know that the prayers from the whole community have made the difference in every way, not in God’s mercy as He is always so merciful, but in the blessings those prayers have brought to us and to each person praying—conversation with Our God and Savior imparts blessings to all souls. For now, Garrett is down a bit emotionally as the doc told him the joints that are fused will never get any better, the hand and fingers will never gain 100% function and we can’t consider another surgery for at least another 6 months and there are risks of worsening the scarring and function. Thank you all for giving me strength and encouragement through this—what a part you have played in our lives I can’t begin to say. May everyone have an Easter of hope and renewal in heart and feel the life only our Christ could obtain for us. Blessings to each and every one!

Good morning Dear Vicky G, sending you, your husband and Garrett many prayers for all the blessings already received and the hope for the future as you navigate another phase of Garrett’s recovery. Your faith is so strong and you handle challenges with grace and resolve. May Our Lord bless you richly and thank you for the inspiration you bring to all of us, Dear Lady.

Vicky G. You are all amazing people and my prayers are always with you. May Garrett exceed all the expectations and surpass the norm! With that said I don't know anything about this place other than the video I just watched or if it's close to you but I can say from experience that I used to work at a place like this handling the horses. Miracles happen everyday at places like this. https://calvincenter.org/calvin-center-therapeutic-riding-program/ They are not cheap but many times insurance will pay for them. Sorry to harp about horses but they can be such healers! If this place is not close they may have ideas on other places near you. HUGS and PRAYERS!!!

Vicky G...what a journey! But one that you know, you're not alone on. Your faith is firmly founded on trust in God and I thank Him for His love and words that flow from you to us. It has been, and continues to be a privilege to pray for Garrett, you, and your whole family. As we say in Texas "God Bless Y'all REAL Good"...and Vicky G., He truly has.

"God our Father, we are exceedingly frail and indisposed to every virtuous and gallant undertaking. Strengthen our weakness, we beseech you, that we may do valiantly in this spiritual war; help us against our own negligence and cowardice, and defend us from the treachery of our unfaithful hearts; for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen

Be very careful when we speak up! Only by the prompting and power of the Holy Spirit that I should speak! *** Proverbs 18:21, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits!" *** Ephesians 4:29, "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear!" *** Matthew 12:36-37, "I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” ******* Colossians 4:6, "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person!" Amen!

It probably was because of my words that Katie believed in the 'created' image of God :-( She probably heard me tell others and my girls that we only need to pray to God and He will give us everything we need and answer our prayers...And when He didn't answer our prayers the way we asked of Him, then He wasn't really God :-( Be very careful when we pray...because when our prayers don't get answered the way we prayed...others will lose faith or blame God for what happened and what didn't happen!!! The hope is always in what Jesus has already done!!!

April 16, 2025 at 06:59 AM

A 40-day prayer journal specifically for my daughter, Katie, the self proclaim agnostic to come back and walk with Jesus, her Savior and soon to be Lord ✝️ *** Day Thirty eight - Thank You, Lord, for holding my tongue yesterday! Instead of words or regret and blame, You gave me words of thankfulness and helpfulness! Who is like You, my God!!! *** Give Katie the thirst for You in Revelation 21:6, “And He also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life!” *** Give Katie the hunger for You in John 6:33-35, “The bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven. He gives life to the world.” “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.” Then Jesus said, “I AM the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry. And whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty!” Amen ✝️
