Monday of Holy Week
Extravagant Love
The house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
John 12:3

Mary’s display of affection for Jesus is certainly extravagant. In fact, Judas deems it wasteful. Mary’s affection is also personal and intimate. She pours the fragrant oil on Jesus’ feet and wipes his feet with her long flowing hair. Her show of affection is total and intuitive. She holds nothing of herself back. She alone seems to sense that Jesus’ death is near.

What was Jesus’ reaction? He could have stopped her; instead, he welcomes her lavish display of affection. He defends her from the criticism of others. He links her extravagant love to his own death and burial.

Jesus, may my love for you, like Mary’s love for you, be extravagant, personal and total. May my love mirror the great love you displayed for all of us during this week we call Holy.

My prayer "Give us, Lord, a lively faith, a firm hope, a fervent charity, a love of you. Take from us all lukewarmness in meditation, dullness in prayer. Give us fervor and delight in thinking of you and your grace, your tender compassion towards me. The things we pray for, good Lord, give us grace to labor for: through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

All praises to You, my God and my Lord! The Spirit-filled weekend retreat of high school students joining together from two differnt churches ✝️ ******* The theme - The Upside Down Kingdom ✝️ *** Suffering and Rejoicing in Acts 16:16-40 *** Weak yet Strong in 2 Corinthians 12:10 *** Peace in Storms in Mark 4:35-41 *** Poor but Rich in Matthew 1-12 ******* I am grateful and praiseful that I literally experienced all the above in one weekend: severe stabbing pain in my stomach after teaching and small group discussion at 10pm Friday. I took 10 Tums and went to bed. Woke up the next morning with lesser pain returning. Took 2 Pepcids and continued attending the teaching and small group discussions for morning and evening. I got to sleep for 2 hours in the afternoon while students went for a hike! Sunday morning, I was able to eat 6 saugage links for breakfast and finished the last session before going home and went into a coma ✝️ The only prayer I had during all of it was in Not Today by Hillsong UNITED https://youtu.be/bQF0xz0FEIs?si=tvQg8Ebet6YMaPQ4

A 40-day prayer journal specifically for my daughter, Katie, the self proclaim agnostic to come back and walk with Jesus, her Savior and soon to be Lord ✝️ *** Day Thirty six ~ I trust You, Lird Jesus, that I will see the day when Katie walks with You, talks with You and glorifies You! Psalm 27:13-14, “Here is something I am still sure of. I will see the Lord’s goodness while I’m still alive. Wait for the Lord.Be strong and don’t lose hope. Wait for the Lord!” ✝️ *** I hold on to Your promise of my life verse in Isaiah 40:31, “But those who trust in the Lord will receive new strength. They will fly as high as eagles. They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not grow weak!” ✝️ *** Lord Jesus, Your example of extravagant love foyr us in Romans 5:7-8, “It is unusual for anyone to die for a godly person. Maybe someone would be willing to die for a good person. But here is how God has shown his love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us!” ******* Reckless Love by Cory Asbury https://youtu.be/6xx0d3R2LoU?si=VUYLchHNAfyVenmi
