Among the outrageous things that God promised to Abraham—from fresh land and a new name, to making him “exceedingly fertile” (v. 6), nothing compares to the covenant: “I will maintain my covenant with you and your descendants after you throughout the ages as an everlasting pact, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you” (v. 7). This is not simply an admirable statement or even a legal contract between God and Abraham. What makes it both radical and profound is that the Great I AM, Creator of the Universe, pledges this oath to Abraham, a human person.
This is our God. He seeks an intimate, personal relationship with his people and pledges to remember this covenant forever. And he sends us Jesus, who urges us to call the Lord Father! As our Lent comes to an end, rest in the knowledge that even when, like the Israelites, we wander and falter, God is faithful to his covenant with us. And he patiently calls us to return again and again to that covenant.
A 40-day prayer journal specifically for my daughter, Katie, the self proclaim agnostic to come back and walk with Jesus, her Savior and soon to be Lord ✝️ *** Day Thirty two - Thinking back to the time when I was trying to get pregnant for the first time at the age of 38, nothing! a year of fertility treatment, nothing! I wasn't a Christian even though I went to church every Sunday. I created God in my own image...I told Him what He needed to do for me :-( *** BUT GOD! Romans 5:8, "But here is how God has shown His love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us!" When we stop fertility treatment and then I was pregnant with Katie!!! *** Only God! Psalm 139:13, "You created the deepest parts of my being. You put me (Katie) together inside my mother’s body!" ✝️ ******* Grateful for Katie, a gift from God! Praying for Katie in Jeremiah 29:1-14, "I know the plans I have for you,” announces the Lord. “I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come. Then you will call out to Me. You will come and pray to Me. And I will listen to you. When you look for Me with all your heart, you will find Me. I will be found by you,” announces the Lord. “And I will bring you back from where you were taken as prisoners. I will gather you from all the nations. I will gather you from the places where I have forced you to go,” announces the Lord. “I will bring you back to the place I sent you away from!” Amen!!!✝️
Thank you Maria for all your reflections and comments to this site yes I Am is in gospel reading also. Living faith family Padre Pio saying and the wisdom of the saints today I will share. Ken Oh how precious time is! Blessed are those who know how to make use of it, because on the day of judgment, all will have to render or strict account of it to the supreme judge. Padre Pio's statement for today. Wisdom of the saints today is "The Lord is loving onto man, and swift to pardon, but slow to punish. Let no man, therefore despair of his own salvation" Saint Cyril of Jerusalem.
Offering prayers for Sid and Margaret and Bill and Michael now. May God’s warm embrace engulf all of you and hold you in His tender loving arms as you heal and overcome the challenges placed before you.
As I am finishing up on the book of Revelation at BSF, I learn about the second death that I didn’t quite understand before!!! Second death - the final and eternal punishment for sin! *** Revelation 2:11, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.’” *** Revelation 20:6, “ Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with Him for a thousand years!” *** Revelation 20:14, “ Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire!” ******* Revelation 21:8, “But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” *** Revelation 20:15, “And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire!” *** Is your name in the Book of Life? *** The Book of Life is also called the Lamb’s Book of Life because it contains the names of those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lord Jesus! ******* If you are born once, you die twice (once physically and once spiritually in eternity)! If you are born twice, you die once (once physically and if Jesus comes back while you are alive, you don’t die at all :-)!
Beautiful reflection for today!! Amen and Amen!! We’re making our journey back to Ohio from our winter home in SC. Dear LFF, please pray for our nephew, Michael who was in a horrible car crash last Friday night while driving home from work. He had to have emergency surgery to repair his aorta and has been in ICU in St. Louis. Multiple fractures in both legs, his left arm and hip. Even as I type this, he is undergoing surgery on one or possibly both legs. May his surgeons and care team be guided by our Heavenly Father and may the healing touch of Jesus be with him over the coming days and months. He has a very long path to recovery but he has love and support from our family and his fiancée. Thanks everyone.
Please pray for my wife Margaret who has not been well.
AMEN!
"And he patiently calls us to return again and again to that covenant" AMEN!
Amen
Amen!
Amen. :)
I am surprised the first readin was not from Exodus 3, especially 3:14.
Amen
