Lenten Weekday
Remaining in Discipleship
…If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples…
John 8:31

As I write, I’m serving as a guest director for a directed retreat. Here, the emphasis is on silence and deep listening to the Spirit within and around us. In all that we’re about, we strive to do the inner soul work that, with God’s grace, will lead to our spiritual growth and transformation for the life of the world. We seek wisdom to help us remain faithful to God’s Word as we return to our everyday lives.

At a place of retreat, everything contributes to the atmosphere of prayerfulness. The challenge for all of us is to stay faithful in our everyday living, recognizing that we’re part of a culture that does not always understand or encourage times of stillness and reflection. No matter where we are or what fills our days, may we find ways to pause, to abide, to linger, to remain in that Word.

- Sr. Chris Koellhoffer, I.H.M.

Daily Devotion and prayer/meditation before I start my day. Every day I thank Father for the new day. I write in my Gratitude Journal, thanking for my Blessings by name. I pray several times during the day for others by name and for the community and the world. I sit in the stillness whenever I can. I also check in with others to encourage and to receive inspiration.

On today’s reading yes I go every week to adoration at church and the stillness, my heart, my mind, and my soul feels warm and peaceful when I go. I feel it brought me closer to my Lord.

Sr. Chris wow your words are my daily life right now. I need to try very hard to calm and reflect better. Even my daily reflection/meditation in the morning are tense with thought and anxiety. So much around us to worry us. Blessings to all the LFF, especially those needing an extra hand these days. May we all in our daily lives spread the word and love of God through all the world. Prayers that the Holy Spirit fill the lives of the world leaders and bring this world back to God. For a Heavenly Earth!

A 40-day prayer journal specifically for my daughter, Katie, the self proclaim agnostic to come back and walk with Jesus, her Savior and soon to be Lord ✝️ *** Day Thirty one - What can I pray for Katie today, Lord God? There are times when I just don't want to think about it or deal with it :-( She is all Yours, Lord God! Well, she is Yours to begin with, right? *** But I know You want Katie to walk with You, talk with You and calk with You! You have done that with Jessi as she refused to join BSF at the beginning of college because I asked, now she is an online subsitute group leader with BSF :-) You have prepared and equipped her in BSF to deal with these last very difficult 4 years with PTSD losing her ability to study like she used to struggling at every exam, broken 'boyfrined' relationships and her harassment compliaint to the school being ignored!!! *** I trust You, Lord God! That You will do the same for Katie and bring her back into Your fold ✝️ I know You may have to allow difficult situations in Katie's life to get her attention! I still remember my prayer when she was in collage on probation and suspended, "Lord, let her get pregnant out of wedlock so she would look up to You for help!" Mu husband didn't like that prayer :-( ******* What I am saying is, "Whatever it takes for her to be in Your Kingdom knowing You, loving You, enjoying You and glorifying You is all I want! And I trust You are sovereign, You are loving, You are good and there is no other! So I wait for Your Good News, my Love ✝️

I find remaining in discipleship is a daily walk. I don't alway start the day at the same place as I ended the day before. I have found that the walk is best shared with other folks on the same walk.

*** Jesus told us the steps to discipleship in John 8:31-32, “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you (1) abide in My Word, you are truly My disciples, and (2) you will know the truth, and (3) the truth will set you free.” *** The Jews’ response of ‘we are Jews belonging to Abraham’s offspring so we are already free in John 8:33, “ They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?” *** Does anyone think just because you belong to a denomination or a church, you are a disciple of Jesus Christ? I call those Sunday Christians!!! ******* Jesus said I have to abide in His Word to be His disciple! To know His Word (Scripture) is to know Him because Jesus is the Word in John 1:1-2, 14, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth!”

Discipleship comes from the word discipline! At student BSF, "Redemptive Discipline" trains children and students to love God and to love others! His Word is the first place to look for the tools and process for "Redemptive Discipline!"
