Fifth Sunday of Lent
For the Love of God: Repent!
Go, and from now on do not sin any more.
John 8:11

God loves us. This is a foundational truth of the Christian faith. God created us to be loved by him and to return that love back to him. Unfortunately, we regularly reject God’s love and sin against him and our neighbors.

But God loves us too much to let us stay as we are. This is the message Jesus came to preach: Repent, turn back to the Father who loves you and follow him in holiness.

Too often we want to focus on God’s love without also heeding his invitation to repentance. We think that because God loves us we don’t need to change—“God loves me just the way I am!” We reject the need for a Savior along with the love and mercy Jesus won for us on the Cross.

Take time today to examine the ways you have rejected God. Repent of your sins, make amends to those you have hurt and accept God’s loving mercy.

Thank you, Jonathan, beautiful reflection this morning. The Sacrament of Reconciliation has been my anchor to pull me up and repent for my sins. That squeaky clean feeling that our soul is back to our Baptismal innocence is so powerful. Wishing all the LFF and their families a happy Sunday and hoping that we will be peaceful in our hearts and extend the love and compassion of Our Lord to all in our world.

Thank you, Jonathan, for this perfect reflection as Lent is winding down. Our Crosses in Life: "The Cross will not crush you; if it's weight makes you stagger, it's power will also sustain you." St. Padre Pio

*** I repent of my sins against You and I give You my heart, O Lord! Joel 2:12-13, “ “Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments. “Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and He relents over disaster!” Amen ✝️ *** I agree with Paul in Philippians 3:8-10, “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law (not what I do), but that which comes through faith in Christ (but what Jesus has done), the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death!” *** I Speak Jesus by Charity Gayle https://youtu.be/PcmqSfr1ENY?si=1z8x5HPwKI9wz4xW

A 40-day prayer journal specifically for my daughter, Katie, the self proclaim agnostic to come back and walk with Jesus, her Savior and soon to be Lord ✝️ *** Day Twenty eight - Lamentation 5:1, “Lord, think about what has happened to us. Look at the shame our enemies have brought on us!” Yes, Lord! Remember Katie when she was in drugs and alcohol in her senior high school! Remember Katie when she was on probation and then suspended in college! *** Lamentation 5:19, “But You, O Lord, reign forever; Your throne endures to all generations!” But You, my Lord! You let us find out about Katie’s drugs and alcohol in high school! You, my Lord got Katie accepted into the 5-year architecture program of the college she wanted even though she quit and switched program after 1 month! She graduated college after 5 years even though she was on probation and suspended! You reign ✝️ *** Lamentations 5:21, “Restore us to Yourself, O Lord, that we may be restored! Renew our days as of old!” O Lord, restore Katie to Yourself as You have done for her throughout her life! ******* We are faithless and You are faithful, O Lord! I cling to Your promise for us especially Katie in Ezekiel 36:26-28, “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes and be careful to obey My rules. You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be My people, and I will be your God!” Amen ✝️
