Fourth Sunday of Lent
A Dignified Title and Mission
So we are ambassadors for Christ…
2 Corinthians 5:20

I have often thought about how I can best live my faith in relation to Christ. I believe in the Scriptural teachings of Jesus. I believe I should love others, do charitable deeds, be humble, offer mercy and forgive. I worship at Mass and pray often to be a Christian for Christ. However, in today’s reading, I note that Paul has given me another dignified title that I am called to fulfill: I am an ambassador for Christ.

I am being sent to represent Christ who has appointed me to go on my mission, whether nearby or far away. As an ambassador, my responsibilities are to maintain a kind attitude, to promote good will, to assist where I can and to try to keep peace among the people. My ambassador credentials are renewed and strengthened at every Mass—which from the Latin means “to be sent.”

Dear Christian sisters and brothers, we are all ambassadors for Christ. On what mission is Christ sending you?

- Fr. James McKarns

Thank you father James for your comments and reflections this morning. It reminds me of a decon on daily reflections who said he starts the day with saying "well Lord what are we going to do today " Today's wisdom of the saints is Intimacy with God "Withdraw often in the depths of your being, and there with living faith rest on the breast of God, like a child, in the sacred Silence of faith and holy love" Saint Paul of the cross Ken

Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those in need. Come to the side of those experiencing violence in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur, and the Sudan. Please hear the pleas of all those suffering around the world - and give them strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

Many thanks to Ken, Jane, Salina and Frank and the whole LFF for your prayers and petitions as we continue to try to understand our mission each day. The circumstances may change, but the answer comes from believing in the one who Loves us all.

“An ambassador is the highest-ranking diplomatic representative of a country, stationed in another nation or before an international organization, tasked with representing their government, building relations, and promoting their country's interests!” ******* How can I be an ambassador for Christ representing Him, building relations with others (both believers and non-believers) and promoting His interests? *** Representing Him in Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine so others can see it. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will bring glory to your Father who is in heaven!” *** Building relations with others in 1 Peter 4:8-10, “Most of all, love one another deeply. Love erases many sins by forgiving them. Welcome others into your homes without complaining. God’s gifts of grace come in many forms. Each of you has received a gift in order to serve others. You should use it faithfully!” *** Promoting Jesus’ interests in 2 Corinthians 5:17-20, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, Who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”” ******* First and foremost, be reconciled to God yourself and you become an ambassador for Christ and God will reconcile others to Himself through your journey of faith ❤️✝️❤️ Ephesians 2:8-10, “God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago!” Amen!!!
