No matter how hard we seek, we don’t always find what we’re looking for. What’s more, life is full of loss. We lose so many things—keys, jobs, friends, spouses, hope, health.
As a mom, I often think of how Mary must have felt when she lost Jesus in the Temple. Like any mother, she’s angry when she finds him and asks, “Why have you done this to us?” She doesn’t fully understand his response (Luke 2:49). Nonetheless, she accepts it. Whether we find what we think we want or something entirely different, we must have the faith to accept that God knows what he’s doing.
And when we feel the ache of loss, we must remember there’s one thing we can never lose. Even if we feel Christ has vanished from our lives, he’s there in the Eucharist and here in our hearts. All we have to do is look for him. Seek, and we will always find him waiting with open arms to embrace us.

Beautiful reflection. Thank you , Kate.
Thank you, Kate, for this reflection. God has great patience & He will always be there for us. "He did not say: You will not be troubled--You will not be tempted--You will not be distressed. But He said: You will not be overcome." St. Julian of Norwich
*** Does it mean whatever and everything we ask will be given to us? Matthew 7:7-8, "Ask, and it will be given to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. Everyone who asks will receive. The one who searches will find. The door will be opened to the one who knocks!" *** Let's look at the verses in context before and after in Matthew 7:6, 12, "Do not give holy things to dogs. Do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they might walk all over them. They might turn around and tear you to pieces......In everything, do to others what you would want them to do to you. This is what is written in the Law and in the Prophets!" *** I believe the goal of every prayer is not for the earthly results but with heavenly purpose! How do I know what heavenly purpose is in healing a sickness, finding a job, restoring a marriage, grieving a death/loss, repairing a relationship?!?!?! ******* I remember these words, "Deo Volente!" meaning "God willing!" (In the early 1900’s it was common for the English to end their personal letters with Deo Volente or D.V. It means God willing, and it’s thought that the phrase was pulled from James 4:13-15.) The more I study God's Word, the more I get to know His heart and desire! Still my flesh won't die but play dead :-( So I ask and plan, God will determine my steps and I follow His path away from my detour :-) Proverbs 16:9, "In their hearts human beings plan their lives. But the Lord decides where their steps will take them!" Deo Volente, Salina
AMEN!
*** A 40-day prayer journal specifically for my daughter, Katie, the self proclaim agnostic to come back and walk with Jesus, her Savior and soon to be Lord ✝️ *** Day four - Dear Jesus, how should I pray and ask You for Katie to come back and walk with You? Matthew 6:8, "Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need even before you ask Him!" *** I am so glad You knew my heart's desire and I know it is also Your heart's desire as well! James 4:3a, "When you do ask for something, you don’t receive it. That’s because you ask for the wrong reason!" ✝️ ******* Place Your people around Katie and mentor her (I am actually thinking of the new CEO of her company, is he Yours?): whoever, whenever and wherever You have planned to draw her back to You, "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven when it comes to Katie! Amen!"

Thank you Kate for your words of encouragement and hope.As one who has been blessed to live a long life, the losses of family members and dear friends come more often. With each one there is an ache in the heart and an emptiness that only God can fill. Thanks be to our Lord and Savior for his unconditional love and mercy that restores our faith in His promise of everlasting life and that one day we shall all be together again with the Shepherd of our souls. This is the faith that we live and hold on to, the gift that brings us peace and renews our joy.
Amen. :)

Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those in need. Come to the side of those experiencing violence in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur, and the Sudan. Please hear the pleas of all those suffering around the world - and give them strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.
