Peter reminds Jesus of what he has left behind. But before Peter can enumerate what the “everything” is—his fishing boat, his livelihood, his former way of life, probably many of his acquaintances as well because he’s now following an itinerant preacher and has no fixed place to call home—Jesus interrupts him and offers his own kind of enumeration.
Jesus tells us that when we can enter into deep inner soul work and let go of whatever might get in the way of our fully living the Gospel message, we will receive an abundance of God’s gifts. Interestingly, he also includes persecutions on that list, a detail we sometimes overlook.

Living faith family today's wisdom of the saints. "Nothing is more beautiful than love. Indeed, Faith and Hope will end when we die, whereas love, that is, charity, will last for eternity; if anything, I think will be even more alive in the next life" Pier Giorgio Frassati. Ken
Faith: "Not the goods of the world, but God. Not riches, but God. Not honors, but God. Not distinction, but God. Not dignities, but God. Not advancement, but God. God always and in everything." St. Vincent Pallotti
Thank you for this beautiful prayer.
Sr. Chris your words are an inspiration for reflection thank you. If everyone thought "what would Jesus do" before their actions each day can you imagine what a wonderful world we would have? Blessings LFF, prayers to all needing Gods extra hands these days and may we spread the love of God through all the world everyday. Prayers for the Holy Spirit to enter the hearts, minds and souls of the president, his cabinet and all following his commands. I truly believe when he is filled with the holy spirit and the love of God he will lead this country into wonder! If he had just asked me I could have told him how to handle all these issues LOL!!!!
Amen. :)
Praying for mercy and justice in our world; praying for truth and responsibility for all forms of journalism and media, praying for those unjustly held captive against their will, and praying for religious freedom and against all forms of prejudice especially anti- semitism. Lord God have mercy on us and on the whole world.
AMEN!
Amen!
That one line in scripture always bothered me…”the first shall be last and the last shall be first”. I am currently in a Bible study on Jesus’ parables and the leader had a perspective I never considered: if the first are last and the last first then no one is ahead or behind another—-we all will be judged and enter eternity in the same time frame…upon our physical death. If anyone uses Hallow, they will be using St. Josemaria Escriva’s The Way. If you’ve never read any of his writings you may be interested. He also wrote a small book called Christ is Passing By that I found personally inspiring, just in case you still haven’t decided on what extra prayer time you will add this Lent. Blessings everyone (peggyR, Zachary is on my heart more than ever).
Amen
Praying for the Pope. Praying for the innocent immigrants that are being deported, for federal workers whose livelihood's are being destroyed as they lose their jobs, and for the poor, hungry and sick across the world who are being deprived life giving food and medical aid. Praying for Ukraine and its people.
My prayer "Lord Jesus, I want to follow you as your disciple and to love you wholeheartedly with all that I have. Fill my heart with faith, hope, and love that I may always find peace and joy in your presence."
Instead of thinking of it as giving up, I see it as investing. The returns are out of this world.
I love the paradoxicality of Scripture :-) *** When you give up something or some one for the sake of Jesus and His Good News, you will get back 100 folds back of the same along with persecution in Mark 10:29-30! *** When you are first, you are actually last, and when you are last you are actually first in Mark 10:31! *** There are many many paradoxes in the Scripture, can you find some? ******* 2 Corinthians 6:8-10, 2 Corinthians 12:10, John 12:24, etc When I die to myself, I am alive in Christ ❤️✝️❤️

Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those in need. Come to the side of those experiencing violence in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur, and the Sudan. Please hear the pleas of all those suffering around the world - and give them strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.
