The Gift of Friendship
A faithful friend is beyond price,
no sum can balance his worth.
Sirach 6:15

Friendship is one of the greatest blessings of my life. My friends enrich me in countless ways. They often give me a different slant on a particular situation, person or problem I’m dealing with. They offer me a safe place to vent my thoughts and feelings. They give me opportunities to express my love and tenderness. Friends encourage me, not only by their words but by the example of their faith-filled lives. And finally, my friends know my shortcomings and failures, and yet, they still like me! Because of my friends, it is easier for me to believe in God’s unconditional love for me.

Jesus had friends. Throughout his life, he befriended a wide range of individuals. And at the Last Supper, Jesus said to all gathered there (and to us too!), “I call you friends.” (See John 15:15.)

Loving Jesus, thank you for the gift of friendship—especially your friendship with me!

Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those in need. Come to the side of those experiencing violence in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur, and the Sudan. Please hear the pleas of all those suffering around the world - and give them strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

I consider Jesus to be my best friend. He is always near in good times and in bad times. I feel so secure in His love. "If we love Jesus, we shall be loved in return by Him, and that is perfect happiness." St. Rose Philippine Duchesne

Sr. Melannie thank you for those words that help us look at what we have in our lives and who we really are to other people. This is something we should reflect on daily. Blessings to all the LFF especially those with extra needs these days and may we all see, feel, hear and spread the love of God through all the world.

Thank you for sharing a beautiful reflection on the value of friendships. Today let’s offer a special prayer for those who are alone, and for those who are lonely.

February 28, 2025 at 07:56 AM

I really like this prayer I read this morning about friendship ✝️ ❤️✝️ Sharing with you... "Lord Jesus, Thank You for giving me such a vibrant community of friends to do life with. I praise You for the people you have blessed me with, the ones who have come alongside me to love, encourage, support, and uplift me through all the twists and turns of life. I'm so grateful that I do not have to go through life alone, but that you have shown me examples of Your love through my dear friends. I pray that you would be present in my friendships, that you would be drawing us together in deeper community with one another toward greater unity with you. I pray that you would help heal any places of brokenness or discord in my friendships, and that you would restore any friendships that have fallen apart. Like your Word says in Colossians 3:12-13, may I clothe myself in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. May I be patient with my friends, and may I forgive freely like you have forgiven me. May I shine Your light in my friendships, giving glory to You through all that I do, say, and think. Thank You for my friends, Jesus. Thank you for the ways they build me up and remind me of your goodness and faithfulness. In Your Name I pray, Amen!"

Thank You, Jesus, for promising and assuring me that You are my Savior, my Lord, my friend and my brother ✝️ *** My Savior in Romans 3:23-24, "Everyone has sinned. No one measures up to God's glory. The free gift of God's grace makes us right with Him. Christ Jesus paid the price to set us free!" *** My Lord in Romans 10:9, "Say with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord.” Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Then you will be saved!" *** My friend and my brother in Proverbs 17:17, "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity!"
