The psalmist invites us into profound gratitude when we gaze at the work of God’s hand. We’re also invited into a deeper understanding of our place in the created world because we’ve been named as caregivers and guardians of the planet. We stand in awe of the divine order and creativity visible all around us, and we’re humbled to be entrusted with the well-being of all living things.
Perhaps today, we may want to spend time in our corner of the created world, noticing and praying the words of Psalm 8. We might also want to pay close attention to any of the furry, feathered or finned creatures we encounter as we move through this day and offer prayers of praise when we meet them.
- Sr. Chris Koellhoffer, I.H.M.
Thank you, Sr. Chris, for this devotion. Just as Jesus gave Peter the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven, he gave us the keys to His kingdom on earth. We should strive to do our part to enrich this world in a positive manner. Prayers this evening for Mary's son Tom, Ken.
"The secret to happiness is to live moment by moment and to thank God for all that He, in His goodness, sends to us day after day." St. Gianna Molla
Thank you Sr. Chris for recognizing the beauty and joy that the many different creatures bring to us. They grace our earth and make our lives warmer and more inviting! Sorry I have been out of pocket, I have made it to Staletti Italy for my class and am on day 3! It is fantastic. I am EXTREMELY grateful to my husband for allowing me to have this time. We are learning lots and I’m hoping to do some travel as well. Sending extra prayers to all who need it and am glad, Ken, that your friend is recovering from open heart surgery. I see the trolls were back on the site as I wasn’t able to add my prayer to previous days. Lifting all those in the Los Angeles community. I’ll be better posting moving forward. Vicky, how are things in your world? Amen.
Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those who have been hurt, killed and impbacted by terrorist attacks. Come to the side of those experiencing violence in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur, and the Sudan. Please hear the pleas of all those suffering around the world - and give them strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen
Sitting here with my furry creature named Solace, who is a good boy kitty, I thank God for him and for all of God's beautiful creations. I am so blessed. Thank you, Sister Chris, and God bless you!
Amen :)
AMEN!

*** We are given the responsibility of caring for God’s creation in Hebrews 2:6-8 quoted Psalm 8:4-6, “What are human beings that you think about them? What is a son of man that you take care of Him? You have made them a little lower than the angels. You placed on them a crown of glory and honor. You made human beings rule over everything Your hands created. You put everything under their control!” *** Praises to our creator, Lord God in the start and end of Psalm 8:1, 9, “Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your Name in the whole earth! You have set Your glory in the heavens. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your Name in the whole earth!” *** The cost of the privilege of given this responsibility in Hebrews 2:8b-9, “So God has put everything under His Son. Everything is under His control. We do not now see everything under His control. But we do see Jesus already given a crown of glory and honor. He was made lower than the angels for a little while. He suffered death. By the grace of God, He tasted death for everyone. That is why He was given His crown!” ******* Are you different than the evil spirit who knew who Jesus was? Mark 1:23-24, “Just then a man in their synagogue cried out. He was controlled by an evil spirit. He said, “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who You are. You are the Holy One of God!”
