Belonging
We know that we belong to God…
1 John 5:19

Hugs, food, a place to sit, a smile, a hand outreached: Much in the material world helps to form feelings of belonging. Sometimes, the sense of belonging is felt deeply, as our tears well up, our stomachs stir and our throats ache with longing to be close to those who love us.

The knowledge that we belong to God comes from our faith in the meaning of our Baptism and the fullness of Christian community. Belonging to God fills us with longing too: We desire the will of God and reach out and tend to others, welcoming them to the shelter of belonging. By ordinary gestures, we help others feel at home.

God, may I reveal your love to others today and offer others a sense of the belonging that is found in you alone.

- Sr. Julia Walsh, F.S.P.A.

"Lord Jesus, may I never forget the love you have poured out for me when you shed your blood upon the Cross of Calvary for my sins and for my salvation. May your love always grow in me and your hope fill me with joy as I wait for your return in glory when all of your people will be fully united with you at your heavenly banquet feast in the New Jerusalem." Amen

A very timely devotion today, Sr. Julia. Offering up our prayers to the many people who are effected by the devastating fires in SoCal.
