Second Sunday of Advent
John the Baptist’s Intercession
John…proclaim[ed] a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins…
Luke 3:3

How often do you think about St. John the Baptist? As we consider how John—sometimes called the last Old Testament prophet—broadened the path for his Cousin’s evangelization, may we be inspired to likewise draw others to Christ.

As today’s Gospel tells us, John the Baptist proclaimed a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. During this sacred and anticipatory season of Advent, we must first repent of our sins to gain spiritual fitness. As we look forward to Christ’s Nativity, and throughout the liturgical year, let us bring ourselves frequently to the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. And it never hurts to ask for
St. John the Baptist’s intercession to help us clear the way for the Lord!

Heavenly Father, give us a heart of repentance and forgiveness as we look forward to celebrating Christ’s birth at Christmas. We ask this in Jesus’ holy name.

Hymn to St. Jude: St. Jude the oft forgotten, You shall remembered be. We hail you now in glory and have recourse to you for help, for the despairing, when hopeless seems the task and from the Heart of Jesus through you we favors ask.

Living faith family Sundays my day of renewal. I try to spend time in the adoration chaple in adjoining parish. Please pray for my youngest son last night he told me that there was something suspicious in his last blood screening. Going for more tests this week, he didn't want me to share this information with his 3 siblings . As always keep Terry, Christine and Stephanie Debbie and Anna in your prayers. Ken

My prayer "Lord Jesus, you are the Word of God and the Savior of the world. Help me to receive your Word with expectant faith, and to live it with confident hope, and to proclaim it joyfully with love and boldness to all I meet."

Justin, I love thinking about Advent as spiritual fitness. Thank you for that. Trying to increase that exercise routine as we speak. Happy Sunday all. Amen.

Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those experiencing natural disasters, as well as those in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur, the Sudan, in addition to all those suffering around the world - also for their strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen

Our God ‘ is not God of the dead, but God of the Living’ so just like asking this group or another group of prayer warriors to pray with us to our Heavenly Father, we also can ask those who have gone before us who are in Heaven. too. I almost always go straight to the Source with my need/ntention/petition. I frequently ask Him to take this from me and give me peace. Almost always He does. Those infrequent times, he doesn’t, I also ask those who are closer to Him (spiritually and maybe physically too) to continue to pray with me to pray without ceasing while I sleep. I value so many dear people here and continue to pray for those recent and from long ago especially those we haven’t seen respond recently. Thank you for your prayers as well. I do need them even if not seen, I have been enjoying LF for half my life and this community is so special and supportive. I look forward to hearing from you! Any of you going to the in-person retreat Mar 29?

I couldn’t have agreed with you, Laura, more that, “Our God is not God of the dead, but God of the living!”

*** 1 Timothy 2:5-6a, "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all people!" *** Romans 8:34, "Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the One Who died—more than that, Who was raised—Who is at the right hand of God, Who indeed is interceding for us!" *** Hebrews 7:23-25, "Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; but because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them!" ******* Yes, we are living to pray for one another and confession precedes praying for one another in James 5:16, "So confess your sins to one another. Pray for one another so that you might be healed. The prayer of a godly person is powerful. Things happen because of it!" *** But for me and my household, there is only One intercessor personally, the God man, Lord Jesus, the only LIVING High Priest for all!!! *** Deuteronomy 18:10-13, "Here are things you must not do. Don’t sacrifice your children in the fire to other gods. Don’t practice any kind of evil magic at all. Don’t use magic to try to explain the meaning of warnings in the sky or of any other signs. Don’t take part in worshiping evil powers. Don’t put a spell on anyone. Don’t get messages from those who have died. Don’t talk to the spirits of the dead. Don’t get advice from the dead. The Lord your God hates it when anyone does these things. The nations in the land He’s giving you do these things He hates. So He will drive out those nations to make room for you. You must be without blame in the sight of the Lord your God!" *** 1 Chronicles 10:13-14, "So Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord. He failed to obey the Lord’s command, and he even consulted a medium instead of asking the Lord for guidance. So the Lord killed him and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse!"

To God’s message in His Word, I heed ✝️ I share what I learn as I read His Word guided by the power of the Holy Spirit, and this is not my message so I can’t take credit for it!!!

I hope more people read this and take heed. I have a feeling that most will look down on your message.
