Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
Our Humble, Loving King
My kingdom does not belong to this world.
John 18:36

It is natural to want to be esteemed by others. It is good to want to be a great parent, a great teacher or great worker or whatever our state in life. It is a source of pride when we are named “Employee of the Month,” and we see our photo on the wall. To work hard and to be recognized for it is good.

But today, we are asked to raise our minds higher. Everything in this world is passing away. What is of ultimate concern and everlasting is the Kingdom of God. To be “great” in that kingdom is to follow in the footsteps of the one who is truly great. Jesus’ greatness was revealed in his humble, self-sacrificing love. On the Cross, Jesus shows us his greatness.

Today are you being called to the greatness of a self-sacrificing love? How will you be “great” today?

Please pray for my mum - Most holy Apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honors and invokes you universally, as the patron of difficult cases, of things almost despaired of, Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone. Intercede with God for me that He bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly - (make your request here) - and that I may praise God with you and all the saints forever. I promise, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor granted me by God and to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen

******* Jesus gave us His example of being humbled in Philippians 2:5-8, “As you deal with one another, you should think and act as Jesus did. In His very nature He was God. Jesus was equal with God. But Jesus didn’t take advantage of that fact. Instead, He made Himself nothing. He did this by taking on the nature of a servant. He was made just like human beings. He appeared as a man. He was humble and obeyed God completely. He did this even though it led to His death. Even worse, He died on a cross!” *** 1 Peter 3:8-9, “Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and He will grant you His blessing!” *** Matthew 23:12, “But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted,” *** James 4:10-11, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up in honor. Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you!” Amen ✝️

Days are getting away from me so I am not sure if it is day “#11” yet for you jane. I am praying that on your last day emotions will be more joyous than sad, that coworkers will become more friends then before and that the Spirit guides you on all the steps in the next part of life’s journey. For all, may this last Sunday of the liturgical year be one of accomplishment in bringing Jesus more into the world and may you be choosing the plot in your heart to till during the advent season in preparation for an even more abundant crop of Jesus’ love and works in the year to come. God bless my friends.

Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those experiencing natural disasters, as well as those in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur, the Sudan, in addition to all those suffering around the world - also for their strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen
