When we think of the word “home," what usually comes to mind is our own space carved out on this earth, our comforts and loved ones around us. Perhaps we think of our parents, our childhoods, our roots. And sometimes, we think of God as our home, our true “dwelling place.” Rarely do we think of ourselves as a home too.
The psalmist reminds us today that as we seek to dwell in the house of God, so, too, does God seek to dwell within us. This “house of us” that the Love of the Creator has designed holds the beauty of our soul; our compassion, hope, worry, joy, sorrow, longing, the gamut of our human emotion, our very being. How beautiful it is that God longs to dwell within us, to be a part of it all. Remember today that you, yourself, are a home for our God.
Beautifully put Sarah, it put me in mind of Corinthians 12: 12-27, one body but many parts. Wouldn’t it be Heaven if we all lived for each other, interdependently, where everywhere is a loving home for all of creation.
Bruce K you mentioned the verse from Phil. 2:14. This is the rest of that passage. Do everything without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like lights in the world, as you hold on to the word of life, so that my boast for the day of Christ may be that I did not run in vain. Amen and amen.
Stormi, I am praying for your friend Laura now that she may feel God’s healing arms around her in her recovery.
Sarah ah what soothing words you have shared. This is helpful to look forward to the day. My heart has been very weary as of late and this will help to lighten the load. I have a prayer request. A friend of mine, Laura, was brutally attacked by a donkey and is in the hospital. He mauled her arm and she hit her head we think. Please pray for her recovery. Blessings to all the family and especially those needing extra help these days. May we all spread the love of God through all the world.
AMEN!
"This house of us". Amen!
THANK YOU GOD! What a great day!
Thank you Sarah. Postin g a prayer someone shared with me . She said every day before going into the office she say this, which I loved. It reminds me of your reminder that we are a home for God. “Father God thank you for this day. Thank you for your continued blessings and provision. Lord bless me as I go into this office today, Lord, I pray that you would decrease me so that you may increase in me. Allow your light to shine brightly through me so that anyone that I come in contact with today, anyone that hears my voice will experience You. Bless them to look beyond me and see You. I pray that someone’s life is changed for the better today, that they are closer to You. Use me as you see fit Father. Guard my heart and mind and order my steps so that all I do glorifies you. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen”. Lifting Garrett, Susan and Juan, as well as Working Mother and her family that they may experience God’s love and encouragement today. Praying for all those who need spiritual encouragement today, too. Amen.
jane Respond to comment November 4, 2024 at 07:24 AM Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those experiencing natural disasters, as well as those in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur, the Sudan, in addition to all those suffering around the world - also for their strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen
And our forgiveness, for others and for ourselves.☮️
*** Reminds me of the declaration of dwelling and serving in Joshua 24:14-16, "So have respect for the Lord. Serve Him. Be completely faithful to Him. Throw away the gods your people worshiped east of the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord. But suppose you don’t want to serve Him. Then choose for yourselves right now whom you will serve. You can choose the gods your people served east of the Euphrates River. Or you can serve the gods of the Amorites. After all, you are living in their land. But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Then the people answered Joshua, “We would never desert the Lord! We would never serve other gods!" *** Yes, He is our God and lives among His people in Exodus 29:46, "and they will know that I AM the Lord their God. I AM the One Who brought them out of the land of Egypt so that I could live among them. I am the Lord their God!" *** Get rid of other 'gods' in our hearts in 2 Corinthians 6:16, "How can the temple of the true God and the statues of other gods agree? We are the temple of the living God. God has said, “I will live with them. I will walk among them. I will be their God. And they will be My people.” (Leviticus 26:12; Jeremiah 32:38; Ezekiel 37:27)" ******* My prayer this morning in Daniel 2:20-23, "He (Daniel) said “May God be praised for ever and ever! He is wise and powerful. He changes times and seasons. He removes some kings from power. He causes other kings to rule. The wisdom of those who are wise comes from Him. He gives knowledge to those who have understanding. He explains deep and hidden things. He knows what happens in the darkest places. And where He is, everything is light. God of my people of long ago, I thank and praise You. You have given me wisdom and power. You have made known to me what we asked you for. You have shown us......." Amen ❤️✝️❤️
I never thought of it that way. Thanks for the enlightenment.

My heart definitely has a place for the Lord!! A reading from the book of Job: "The Lord gave & the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord! We accept good things from God, & should we not accept evil?"
