It is no small matter to realize—let alone admit—that Jesus is both fully God and fully human. Jesus is not some sort of demigod or spiritual sage limited to merely human metrics of power; rather, he is completely divine and completely human yet unblemished by sin. No wonder why the crowd that had convened in today’s Gospel “sought to touch him;” they realized that Christ alone is the dispenser of their salvation!
We may be tempted throughout our lives to seek alternatives to Jesus’ love. We are constantly bombarded by messages that seek to lead us to abandon his Good News. But we must keep our eyes fixed on the Cross, taking seriously the sacramental and moral life that will keep us in a state of grace.
Thank you Justin for your reflection this morning. Today I pray that with my words and actions will be a little like what Our Lord did when He died for all humanity. To love is to will the good of the other, no restrictions. Dear Lord Jesus, please help me to be like You.
How or what is the impact on you personally and daily knowing the fact that Jesus is fully God and fully human?!?!?! *** People from all over were seeking Jesus for healing in Luke 6:18-19, "They had all come to hear Jesus and to be healed of their sicknesses. People who were troubled by evil spirits were made well. Everyone tried to touch Jesus. Power was coming from Him and healing them all!" *** Did Jesus heal everyone during His days on earth? Does Jesus heal everyone who prays for healing? Does Jesus heal everyone you pray for? You know the answer to the above questions! My quesiton is, "Why not? Wouldn't everyone He heals believes in Him? Or would it?" *** The truth is not everyone He heals will believe in Him! And not evryone He doesn't heal will not believe in Him! Remember what Jesu said in John 6:26, "Jesus answered, “What I’m about to tell you is true. You are not looking for me because you saw the signs I did. You are looking for me because you ate the loaves until you were full!" ******* Knowing about Jesus does not make one a believer :-( Mark 1:22-24, "The people were amazed at His (Jesus) teaching. That’s because He taught them like One Who had authority. He did not talk like the teachers of the law. Just then a man in their synagogue cried out. He was controlled by an evil spirit. He said, “What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know Who You are. You are the Holy One of God!”" *** So I ask again, "How or what is the impact on you personally and daily knowing the fact that Jesus is fully God and fully human?!?!?!" *** I went with my sister, my brother and family this past Sunday to their church in Toronto! The theme of the pastor's sermon, "Would you rather have God's blessings or His presence?" *** Excellent question!!! Having God's blessings doesn't mean His presence, but His presence is God's blessing!!! ******* Exodus 33:1-3, "Then the Lord said to Moses, “Leave this place. You and the people you brought up out of Egypt must leave it. Go up to the land I promised to give to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I said to them, ‘I will give it to your children after you.’ I will send an angel ahead of you. I will drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Go up to the land that has plenty of milk and honey. But I will not go with you. You are stubborn. I might destroy you on the way.” (It is funny to read all the 'you's in the above Scripture...not 'My as in Gods' but 'you as in Moses' :-)
Ken...responding to your kind offer to attend Mass with you this Sunday ~ absolutely! What is the name of your Church again? I will find you...you'll be the one with the glowing halo!!!
Keep our eyes fixed on the Cross. Amen!
I pray that the healing presence of Jesus will come into the lives of my friends who are non-believers. It pains me that they will forfeit the chance to spend eternity in heaven.
Thank Justin you for the line, “ Lord Jesus Christ, we need your healing presence in our lives. Amidst all we face, pour yourself into our minds and hearts to guide us heavenward. We pray this in your holy Name.”. I continue to pray this for Susan who is now showing inaudible signs of cognition, head nodding, eyes, etc and some small movement of hands. The best news is that they will remove the breathing tubes today. I am optimistic that she is on the right path. They are now believing this is a result of Lupus manifesting itself as a non-viral encephalitis. Continued prayers being asked! Anxious to hear about the baby Zip and praying it is healthy. Amen.
Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those experiencing natural disasters, and those in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur, the Sudan, in addition to all those suffering around the world - also for their strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.
Amen. :)

When we come to God in prayer with our requests His answer is yes, no, or not now. Only He knows why some are healed and some aren’t but we do know that God loves all His children and wills only the best for each one. We do not know the mind of God we can only pray to trust in Him always and to be open to His mercy.
