Most of us share traits with our relatives, present and even ancestral—maybe curly hair, facial similarities and even personality. We are fond of telling new parents how much their infant looks like the father or a grandmother. Listening to Isaiah tell the Israelites’ story, we can’t help but notice how much we resemble these ancestors, and not always in a good way.
Just like the Israelites, we need to be reminded that God alone gives us hope, provides for our needs and brings us salvation. In fact, “Isaiah” means “God is salvation.” We are immersed in God’s salvation, not just at the “end times” but today, present moment, in seemingly insignificant ways. God is counting on us to participate in salvation every day because we are the mystical Body of Christ in the world.
I logged into Living Faith today and a couple days ago for the first time in months. Not sure why I got out of the habit. But I can see now how much I've missed it without even realizing. My granddaughter's 11th birthday was Tuesday and her alcoholic mom (my daughter) did not show up. My anger and disappointment is so great. But the devotion and comments have brought me peace this morning along with a renewed commitment to say a rosary every day for my daughter and my beautiful sweet granddaughter who has suffered so much because of the alcoholism. Thank you thank you and God bless you all.
Amen... thank you Deborah... always great comments from Stormy, Peggy, Irene, Salina, Jane, Ken Bill L and Bill S....I look forward to them everyday to guide me along...God bless
I can read Isaiah 26 over and over again: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah+26&version=NIRV *** The here now (the reality), the to be and not yet (the promise and hope), and the gap (God is working?) we feel in between are described in Isaiah 26! *** 'Here now' in Isaiah 26:10, "Sometimes grace is shown to sinful people. But they still don’t learn to do what is right. They keep on doing evil even in a land where others are honest and fair. They don’t have any respect for the majesty of the Lord!" *** 'To be and not yet' in Isaiah 26:14, "Those other masters are now dead. They will never live again. Their spirits won’t rise from the dead. You punished them and destroyed them. You wiped out all memory of them!" *** 'The in between' in Isaiah 26:11-13, "Lord, You have raised Your hand high to punish them. But they don’t even see it. Let them see how much You love Your people. Then they will be put to shame. Let the fire You are saving for your enemies burn them up. Lord, you give us peace. You are the One Who has done everything we’ve accomplished. Lord, You are our God. Other masters besides you have ruled over us. But Your Name is the only One we honor!" ******* The bottom line for me in Isaiah 26:4, "Trust in the Lord forever. The Lord Himself is the Rock. The Lord will keep us safe forever!" Amen!!! Praise You, Lord Jesus Christ, Who reigns forever and ever!!!
Thank you Deborah for you insightful comments as always. Yes I have heard with each of my children how the look like someone, thankfully not me. Living faith family please keep praying for Stephanie and Christine Debbie and her daughter Anna. Sharing this Wisdom of the Saints Whenever people are suffering, whenever they are humiliated by poverty or injustice, and wherever our mockery is made of their rights, make it your task to serve them.Saint John Paul the Great Ken
AMEN!
Deborah thank you for the reminder to look to God each and everyday. His guidance and direction isn't always what we want but we have to believe it is where we belong. Blessings to all the LFF, especially those needing an extra hand these days. May we all go out in faith and spread the love of God through all the world.
Life of Faith: " God is not satisfied with appearance. God wants the garment of justice. God wants his Christians dressed in love." St. Oscar Romero
Amen.
Deborah, how true it is that we see ourselves, in different context, over and over again in history. While we were at a tour of the Coliseum in Rome, the tour guide discussed that there is always shock value and abhorrence of the cruelty that took place there, some of the foundations of this sporting world are still a very real part of our cultures: physical duels (boxing / AMA), football matches, gambling on teams / people, drinking / tailgating and hero worship of athletic super-stars. Was also nauseating to hear how Hitler visited there and then modeled the huge stadium in Nuremberg after the Coliseum. We definitely resemble our ancestors and not always in a good way. Thank you for sharing this with us today. May we all be the best version or ourselves. Amen.
Lord please hear our prayers and bring your light to all those experiencing natural disasters, Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur, the Sudan, and all those suffering around the world - also for their strength, courage and resilience to continue walking in faith. Send them your light. Father in Heaven, have mercy on us and on the whole world! You sent Your Son, the Prince of Peace, for the salvation of the world. We pray that the Peace of Christ will reign in Haiti, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Darfur and Sudan. Please protect and send aid to those in need and all who are at-risk. We pray for peace and rebuilding– we who are working towards it and for all those who are suffering or in danger from conflicts. We pray for an end to violence and war – we pray for wisdom for all leaders who have a hand in this. Lord God please help those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.

Sharing with you, "DAY SIXTEEN “He will reign for ever and ever.” *** READ “The seventh angel sounded His trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Messiah, and He will reign for ever and ever.’” Revelation 11:15 *** REFLECT At the sound of the seventh angel’s trumpet, we are reminded that when judgment looms, God’s glorious eternal reign approaches. Even in our darkest hour when we struggle to see the light, God faithfully reminds us of His ultimate victory. Believers can praise and trust God even when they hear the rumble of His coming judgment. Just imagine the day when “the kingdom of the world” becomes “the kingdom of our Lord.” But what about those who do not believe? Just as John’s vision encouraged His earliest listeners to share the gospel, Revelation motivates us today. *** PRAY Ask God to reveal those in your life who are ready to hear the gospel. Pray for the opportunity and words to share. Ultimately, only God can turn a heart of stone into a heart of flesh. We are simply called to pray, serve, and share!"
