“I wish I could have”—we have all spoken these words. Want is, itself, a reality of the human condition, a normal reaction in a world that is a veritable feast, with so much made available to us and at the ready. Our hunger is often insatiable. But our earthly hunger for more goes so much deeper; it is—more honestly—a spiritual hunger. Christ shows us the better way. In Love, we are reminded that nothing material will be taken with us when our time comes, that all that is tangible is fleeting, and riches are not what this world would have us believe. Jesus reminds us that our true, lasting inheritance is the eternal Love and companionship of God, which is a dwelling in God’s Kingdom with riches that cannot be gathered tangibly but rather enjoyed here and eternally. We are all heirs to so much more than what this material world affords.
AMEN
1 Thessalonians 2:13, "We never stop thanking God for the way you received His Word. You heard it from us. But you didn’t accept it as a human word. You accepted it for what it really is. It is God’s Word. It is really at work in you who believe!" Today's God's Word reminds me of God's Word :-) *** Matthew 16:26, "What good is it if someone gains the whole world but loses their soul? Or what can anyone trade for their soul?" *** James 4:13-14, "Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city. We will spend a year there. We will buy and sell and make money.” You don’t even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? It is a mist that appears for a little while. Then it disappears!" *** Luke 12:16-21, "Then Jesus told them a story. He said, “A certain rich man’s land produced a very large crop. He thought to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have any place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones. I will store my extra grain in them. I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain stored away for many years. Take life easy. Eat, drink and have a good time.” “But God said to him, ‘You foolish man! Tonight I will take your life away from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “That is how it will be for whoever stores things away for themselves but is not rich in the sight of God.” ******* Matthew 6:33-34, "But put God’s Kingdom first. Do what He wants you to do. Then all those things will also be given to you. So don’t worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own!" Amen!!!
