Epic Adventure
He has given life to our souls,
and has not let our feet slip.
Psalm 66:9

Last September, I joined some of my friends for a running trek in the Cascade mountains in Washington. We drove three hours to a trailhead and ran 20 miles just to get to the cabins that would become our starting point.

Each day we ate breakfast, packed lunches for our packs and headed out running and hiking along different trail routes. We saw some of the most incredible vistas, mountain peaks, glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, rivers and forests. We crossed rushing water, picking our way across the rocks. We crossed rope bridges high above caverns and balanced along fallen tree trunks across streams. Some trails were very narrow, with a steep drop to one side. I prayed for safety and sure footing as we made our way.

As I ran, I marveled at the beauty, the newfound life in my soul as I reconnected with nature and appreciated life off the grid.

God, thank you for epic adventures and experiences that bring life to our souls. Help us to run toward you, always!

I had only to read a few sentences of this beautiful daily devotion, Kristin, and immediately scrolled down to confirm it is one of yours!! I felt the exhilaration of the beauty of God’s creation on your run…and had butterflies in my stomach as you described the steep and narrow trails. Thanking God today for His faithfulness! And thanking you for sharing your God given gift of sharing His messages of love, hope, and peace!

Amen. Thank you Holy Father for this beautiful day and for this Gospel today. Thank you Lord Jesus Christ for my faith, my life and for my family. Thank you Holy Father, most of all for your great sacrifice and for the opportunity of forgiveness and reconciliation. Please Lord Jesus Christ have mercy. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ, King of Endless Glory. Amen Holy Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we ask that you release your warrior angels and heavenly hosts. We decry and declare that they would take us off the enemies' radar and scramble the enemies frequencies (airwaves). Your Kingdom must come now. Your will must be done right now, as in the heavens, also on earth. Amen Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Hosts - by the power of God - Cast into hell satan and all evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Kristin, thank you for this. Your beautiful and vivid descriptions make me feel like I was there with you. But oh my goodness, running 20 miles to the start of the Journey….what an inspiration you are. Thank you for giving clarity to the beauty that our run towards God can bring. Continued prayers for those who are lonely, feeling lost or afraid.

Thank you Kristen. John Chapter 6 is an amazing discourse where Jesus reveals that He is the Bread of Life and whoever eats this Bread will never die. O Lord may I partake of the wonderful mystery of the Eucharist all the days of my life and live with You in Heaven forever!
