Here in This Moment
Seek good and not evil,
that you may live;
Then truly will the [uc]Lord[/uc], the God of hosts,
be with you as you claim!
Amos 5:14
One of my adult children is in a helping profession. She began, as nearly all of us do, with high ideals but realistic expectations as well. And she's had some satisfying moments but also some surprises. Surprises in the form of those with whom she is working to help rejecting her advice and even turning on her in rage. Not to the point of danger, but nonetheless, in startling and disappointing ways. I admire her for not becoming negative, for staying committed to doing the best for her clients, for continuing to seek the good. It's my challenge as well, in much less weighty matters, every day. I'm disappointed; I disappoint others. Life turns on a dime; I'm surprised, dismayed and shaken. But can I continue to seek the good and not give in to darkness? Can I believe, no matter what, that God is here in this moment?
Lord, today I look through clouds and hang on to the good. I know you are here.

Dear I.T. person, This is one of the best devotionals that I have ever read. It is dated 06/01/2020. The thing I am protesting is that I got here by clicking on the link for "08"/01/2020. Where is the devotional for 08/01/2020?

Stepping into God’s light. So precious. :-)

It is a delicate balancing act between good and evil, Amy. And I'm not talking about the big "EVILS". The little "evils" like saying something negative about someone or getting frustrated at traffic, etc, are the ones that get me.

Amy, thank you for your devotion and for sharing your daughters story. Her commitment for continuing to seek the good despite her disappointments is very encouraging.

Life does "turn on a dime" and I do get discouraged and become negative, but not for long. With perseverance, prayer and with help of the Holy Spirit, I continue to follow and have faith in my Lord, Jesus Christ, I continue to seek the good and not give in to darkness. "I believe, no matter what, that God is here in this moment" and always.

God Bless our Living Faith Family.
