Adapting to Change
In the lifetime of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed or delivered up to another people.
Daniel 2:44
How many times in my life have I paused and thought: If you'd told me ten years ago that I'd been doing this, I wouldn't have believed you.
Sometimes whatever it is that would have surprised my ten-years younger self is a good thing, and sometimes it's not so great. Life is endlessly surprising, and although I may act as though I'm in control, I'm clearly not. I may act as though the life I've created is set in stone and indestructible, like any kingdom, as vast as an empire or as tiny as my own life, all earthly structures can end, be changed and evolve. So I live on, hopefully wiser with age, never too bound to my own little kingdom, heart set on the everlasting reign of God.
Lord, may I be open to your loving, eternal kingdom, now and forever.
