“I have no more funding available for supplies. I am completely out of Bibles, and all other reading materials...”

When the typical Catholic pastor needs resources for ministry, he has the funds to buy them. Many prison chaplains - such as the jail chaplain from California quoted here - don't have that luxury: "I am the sole Catholic Chaplain in this very large (4,000 inmates!) maximum-security County Jail facility," he said. "[I have] no more funding available for supplies. Right now I am completely out of Bibles, and all other reading materials . . . We chaplains in jails are increasingly challenged to be fund-raisers and resources-gatherers in addition to our (pastoral) responsibilities."

The Living Faith Foundation is a donor-supported charitable organization which provides free to chaplains copies of Living Faith:Daily Catholic Devotions for distribution to inmates in federal, state and local prisons and jails.

In addition to supplying quarterly issues of LIVING FAITH, the foundation also regularly provides other Catholic liturgical, devotional and inspiration resources free to chaplains for use in their ministry to inmates. The material supplied by the foundation includes catechisms, prayer booklets, prayer cards, and Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter devotional booklets and leaflets.

The work of the foundation is supported primarily by donations from LIVING FAITH subscribers. The foundation is a tax-exempt agency registered with the Internal Revenue Service and the Missouri Secretary of State. Donations are tax-deductible. A gift of $25, for example, allows 30 inmates to receive LIVING FAITH for one year or pays for the distribution of more than 150 prayer booklets to inmates.
