I am puzzled! What is the difference between the responses of Zechariah
and Mary:
* Luke 1:18, "Then Zechariah said to the angel, "How shall I know this?
For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years."
* Luke 1:34, "But Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have
no relations with a man?”
"How shall I know this?" Vs "How can this be?"
I see that questioning is obviously ok, but unbelief is not! Holy Spirit,
help me to understand......what is the difference? I want to learn from
their examples!
?"How shall I know this?" is about me being in control wanting to know
how God is going unfold His plan? And "How can this be?" is about me
being incapable wanting to know how to be part of God's plan?
Indeed, I don't need to know the details of God's plan because I know You
are good, You are faithful, You are merciful, You are loving and Your
plan for me is not to harm me but to prosper me (Jeremiah 29:11)! What I
need is like Mary's, "How can this be for I am weak, nothing but a filthy
rag! But I am available if God is willing!"
Lord, we need You, especially this week when Matt and I share our hearts
with Katie to prosper her and not to harm her in her current situation.
Give us wisdom to provide a safe and loving boundary for her to come back
to You and the life You have for her! Lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil! We are available for You, Lord! Amen!
Palm 8:3-6, "When I look at your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the
moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man (especially
Katie and Jessi) that You are mindful of him (us), and the son of man
that You care for him (us)? Yet You have made him (us) a little lower
than the heavenly beings and crowned him (us) with glory and honor. You
have given him (us) dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put
all things under his (our) feet," Amen!
