'Welcome Back'

But whatever gains I had, these I have come to consider a loss because of Christ.

- Philippians 3:7

In the paradoxical economy of the Body of Christ, the last are first, the lowly are lifted and what we thought were gains are counted as losses. There is more joy in heaven over one repentant sinner than 99 righteous people who have no need of repentance. I've heard it said if God seems absent sometimes, it's because he withdraws so we might seek him, but the analogies of today's gospel reading make it hard for me to imagine Jesus as a coy lover. We may never know how far we've wandered, but he seeks us as faithfully as the shepherd seeks his hundredth sheep and as the woman seeks her tenth coin. Jesus is never indifferent. He draws us back in joy and relief, not wrath. We all have need of that mercy, even the righteous who grumble while the prodigals are feted.

Thank you Jessica for your devotion.

Dear Lord, please seek me and draw me back to you when I wander off. Fill me with your Hole Spirit, your mercy and your graces. I love you Lord. Amen

Indeed Jessica, paradoxical, love that word!!!

It takes me to this song, You Say by Lauren Daigle

Lyrics speaks to my heart:
You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours

I agree with the concluding lyrics:
And I believe, oh I believe
What You say of me
I believe

"One thing I ask of the LORD; this I seek: To dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, That I may gaze on the loveliness of the LORD and contemplate his temple. I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORD in the land of the living.I wait for the LORD with courage; be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD. The Lord is my Light and my Salvation. Amen! Psalm 34

Thank you Father for your great mercy
The sacrament of reconciliation is the way
To keep us focus on the great Love healing
And change of heart God has for each one
Of us
