'Going Against the Grain'

Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one's life does not consist of possessions.

- Luke 12:15

Jesus told a parable about a man who had torn down his barns and built bigger ones to secure his possessions. In the parable, Jesus gave a clear and pointed teaching about greed and selfishness. The man's crops were bountiful, and the barns he already had were big enough to store all the grain he would ever need. His overabundance could have been his gracious gift to others who were starving, but he did not share his good fortune. The greedy man thought only of himself and how his big barns would give him a super amount of wealth for a long life in a paradise atmosphere to eat, drink and be happy. His possessions were considered his security, but they were only a false security. The big barns parable teaches that wealth will not give a guarantee for a happy life. There is only one heaven, and this is not it. The ultimate success of life is not what is in your bank, but what is in your heart.

- Fr. James McKarns

Thank you Fr. James for your devotion.

Dear Lord, I pray that you fill me with the Holy Spirit to protect me from greed and selfishness and to not place too much importance in my possessions, my debts and what is in my bank. Instead let your Holy Spirit fill my heart with compassion, kindness, goodness and love for others. Help me to help others in need. Amen.

God Bless our Living Faith Family and continued prayers for all.

Day 4 The Meeting of Jesus Carrying the Cross
Oh Dear Blessed Mother, here you meet your Son along the way carrying His cross. You see how battered and bruised he is and know how alone He must feel. All you wish to do is make eye contact with Him and show a little human compassion, to let Him know you love Him, you’re proud of Him, that He is doing the right thing. The Roman soldiers deny you even this. Yet you know this is God's will also and you continue to follow regardless, praying the way. My Lady, when I see those who need my help or situations that I want to make better, help me to remember that sometimes people must do things alone as part of their own spiritual journey; that I cannot control every situation, that it’s God’s right to control not mine. Help me also to always remember that I have prayer available to me and that God will hear my requests for myself and others. Amen

Hi Patricia L. I am in Lakewood if you need help on something. I I'd a challenging transition 7 years ago moving across country to work with friends who had a missing organization & gave up everything then returned back to Cleveland. God used His people to help me & one particular felt miraculous but it was through the mercy if His body. I believe in the miraculous absolutely & am believing for it myself but at times as Salina said the body of Christ is Jesus with skin on, Him working through His people. Even miracles mostly were done via human touch. I know how hard it is to accept help but maybe that us one way he seeks to provide & bless.

Please hear our cry’s and prayers. Please hear the prayers of our Living Faith Family, May they see comfort coming their way.

Please help me personally keep worry and anxiety that am fighting through at bay today so that I may have a clear path to use all of my God given abilities to grow in my faith and continue to support my family.
