'We're All in This Together'

Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: grace to you and peace.

- 1 Thessalonians 1:1

On a Friday night, I was driving to pick up my son, who had been serving Mass at a retreat house, when a "thunka-thunka" made itself felt. Yes, a flat tire. There I was, three miles from my son, who had no phone. To make it worse, he was waiting for me at a convent where they often didn't answer the landline phone.

What to do? I called a neighbor and asked him to come help me change the tire. I called a friend and asked her to bring my son to where I was. I wasn't crazy about bothering folks at that time of night, but if I'd been called on the same kind of mission, I wouldn't have minded helping. We're all in this together. We need help, we give help. Paul didn't travel the known world inviting people to solitary relationships with God. He called them into community: into the body of Christ, called by him, there for each other.

Jesus, thank you for the communion of your Body, the Church.

Living faith family here is a novena I like and I am starting.
Novena of Grace

O Saint Francis Xavier, well beloved and full of charity, in union with thee, I reverently adore the Majesty of God; and since I rejoice with exceeding joy in the singular gifts of grace bestowed upon thee during thy life, and thy gifts of glory after death, I give Him hearty thanks therefore; I beseech thee with all my heart’s devotion to be pleased to obtain for me, by thy effectual intercession, above all things, the grace of a holy life and a happy death. Moreover, I beg of thee to obtain for me…(here mention the spiritual or temporal favor to be prayed for). But if what I ask of thee so earnestly doth not tend to the glory of God and the greater good of my soul, do thou, I pray obtain for me what is more profitable to both these ends. Amen.

Del/Tom you and your husband and family I will be mentioning

Good Sunday Morning, sorry for my absence these past few days, but know in Spirit I was with you everyday. I always read the mass everyday and spent some quiet time with our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. I spent time with you as well, just not here, unfortunately.

Today’s message “Who Are We Called To Serve”.

In today’s first reading from Isaiah, we hear that God is there, the one helping us. We have been chosen by him.

He says to each of us so we do not forget it. “I am the Lord, there is NO other, there is NO other Gods besides me. It is I who am here helping you, I am the Lord, there is no other.

Paul’s message to the Thessalonians, is just a reminder that he, Paul is praying for them constantly and is remembering their work for Christ in his prayers for them.

He final message to them is to let them know that they all have been chosen and are loved by God. Continue to work for the Lord with the help of the Holy Spirit that has been given to you.

In Today’s Gospel, Jesus message is short and to the point.

He reminds all of us that we have been created in God’s own image, we belong to God.

No matter what our world is doing and saying, we are to remember we have been chosen and we are his creation.

Are we being a good example to others and living his as he has taught us.

We are his beautiful creation, God is the one we are called to serve.

Prayers for our Living Faith Family and my God bless each of you today, his beautiful creation.

Amen.

I know there are times i am reluctant to ask for help. i am dealing with my husband who has parkinsons disease. I NEED HELP but i don't always ask at the risk of being prideful and or bothersome to others. Lord help me to know others are there for me as i of course are there for them.

Del/Tom, it must be very challenging to say the least, the person you love so much, but sometimes we find we can physically only do so much.

The short answer is Yes, there is help the long answer is we just need to do some research to get you the help you and your husband need.

You have a whole NEW family in us. We might sound strange at times, but when we get together, we become pretty resourceful.

So I guess the family here need to know roughly your location then can do some digging to see what help might be available in your area.

Know that all of us here, Living Faith Family, are there for you.

Tim and the rest of the Living Faith Family.

Amen

Del/tom-
You are loved and prayed for by many.
Thank you for asking for our help.
Your plea is a humble reminder to me that it is a privilege and responsibility to pray for you.
It puts me in the “PR Business” again!
God Bless you and your husband, and all who love you...including us, the Living Faith Family!

Thank you for your reflection Amy. Yes we are all in a community here at Living Faith Family.

Del/tom we are here for you to pray for you and yes help you bear your burdens. I cannot begin to imagine the burden you bear in caring for your husband who has Parkinsons. I pray that you are surrounded by family and friends that can help you bear your burdens. If not, reach out to your family gathered here. We will pray for you and if any of us are close to where you live we will show up to offer you love and support.

Del/Tom I know what it means to be a caregiver.
Know that I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Specific today I will pray the scriptural rosary for you and the living faith family. Have courage and know that the holy spirit is with you ask him to guide your mind and control your thoughts while deep breathing. 3 to five minutes helps me to settle down.

I’ve been blessed so many times in need of help from family and friends when I was laid up on different occasions with a broken knee, a broken shoulder, and when we hit a deer on our motorcycle, I ended up with a broken wrist, ankle and knee. Friends and neighbors were supportive. But at times, I find myself not giving back as I should. I pray for forgiveness and to help others more who are in need....even with just simple things. Lord, may I learn to give back as you have given so much to us.

Thanks Amy for today's devotion. Jesus made a clear separation between church and state. Although there is a clear distinction between the roles of the state and the church, there is no total separation.
Lord through your spirit help us to live in love to you. Open our eyes to see your goodness and truth surrounding us your children, even in this troubled world. Protect us in these difficult times. We plead for our country, entrusting it to your care so that love to you may be awakened. Prayer for all the living faith family members. Have a beautiful Sunday everyone.

Very good insight! All we can do is pray and trust in the Lord’s handling of our country. A close friend recently told me that she has complete trust that the Lord will not permit the country to fall into the wrong hands. I wish I had her faith and pray that my faith be increased every day. But I also worry that sometimes lessons must be learned as we have read in the Old Testament. God protect us all as we are your sheep in need of a true and honest shepherd!
